Unitronic 4” turbo inlet to stock air box?

Since the Unitronic 4 inch Turbo Inlet Elbow does not work with the stock intake, what are the options to connect the 4” inlet to the stock air box? As much as the $1300 full carbon intake looks impressive, I feel it is a bit overkill.

I'd say pointless fitting the 4 inch inlet elbow without upgrading the intake flow wise somehow.

Was thinking of how APR first released their turbo inlet with just a 4” rear inlet tube to stock air box. Does their tube work with the Unitronic turbo inlet? I would just get the APR setup, but it seems like there are some potential fitment issues. It looks like the Uni inlet mounting points should fit more securely.

Unitronic offers a 3" inlet for the stock intake as well.

Currently have Uni's 4" inlet to a 4" APR tube mounted to a modded stock box. Was hopefully a lower cost option would come out for an intake since I do didn't want to spent 1300 for a full carbon fiber intake. So far so good.

I'd run this setup of you want to keep cost down. I just switched the stock airbox to apr filter, and so far seen no difference in 60-130 times. I actually plan on switching back to stock modded airbox and comparing the data, it's just been too cold.

I really suspect the bigger gain is from the turbo inlet and that all the full intakes result in very little if any gains [at least on stock turbo]. So go 4" inlet, and you can use the apr tube to stock airbox. Definately do the airbox mod and remove the snow baffle. You'll be in for roughly 750 instead of 1300.

you could also do this setup if you you're trying to save money on a setup that'll fit stock airbox:

all companies agree the pipe from the inlet to the airbox is the main restriction outside of the inlet itself

Also wondering if Unitronics 4" inlet would fit the 4" CTS intake. I don't see why not. CTS actually does have a 4" inlet too but not sure on quality.

Worst case scenario you may have to buy some 4" coupler and cut it down.

Yes, you just have to get a 4'' boot for 10$! I have the 4'' CTS to a 3'' uni turbo inlet. Just not sure if hp wise would worth it go to 4'' inlet!! Its a bitch to do!!!

Is installation a lot harder for the 4” vs the 3”?

Its what I did, then K&N and drilled a large hole on the corner side front of the lower air box and called it a day.

No, it's the same process other than wiggling it through a semi tight space.

I think he was saying his is still the stock 3" and that installing any turbo inlet is a p.i.t.a. here's an install video to give you an idea if you haven't seen it.

Our 4" Turbo Inlet is setup to mate seamlessly to our 4" Carbon Fiber Intake System via our EPDM inlet coupler that's included with our intake system. The goal is to eliminate all restrictions pre-compressor to achieve the maximum performance. Connecting it to the stock rear intake tube not suggested, as you'll still have restrictions present in the intake tract with the stock intake.

This. I’m going to get one of them for sure. But if the 4 inch is just as easy as the 3 I’m getting it. But in the instructions they say you have to come from below to install 4 inch. I just ordered the tune and I want all Unitronic’s supporting mods. I do all work myself and want to keep the god dammits to a minimum.

Has anyone ran a 4" unitronic inlet to a 4" CTS turbo intake? I currently have the stock inlet and a 4" CTS turbo intake but was looking to get the 4" unitronic one instead.

I run a 4inch Unitronic inlet to a 4inch CTS turbo intake fit like a glove. Been running this combo for over a year on a 710h without any issue.

I have to run some events with the stock box so I'm stuck with the OEM box and tube for now.

For those that want to keep the stock airbox and pipe, the 3" Unitronic inlet is a great option.
Flow is increased by a good amount to produce good power.

Wish I would have seen this a few months ago. I bought the CTS 4 inch inlet so I knew the fitment would be okay. Knowing I would need to get one that fits a hybrid turbo should I go that route later. Thanks for the feedback.

Any issues with the APR tube carbon breaking down near the turbo inlet over time due to heat? A shop told me to look out for that, got off the phone with APR and they said they changed something and now they aren't hearing about that issue anymore. Do your recommend the Uni 4">APR 4" tube>stock airbox setup?
