    When do 2020 A5's arrive?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just had my brand new 2019 A5 SB totaled... looking to either get the same identical car (Black optic, Daytona Gray, B&O, etc) or wait for the 2020 models to arrive.

I have no idea when they are arriving here in the U.S. though..... I can't get a straight answer from the dealers, probably because they are trying to sell their remaining '19 stock.... and can't find anything online either!!

I know the exterior has minor tweaks, and the big difference is the new touchscreen MMI... should I just wait for the '20s to arrive?

No 2020 MY for the A5/S5.

They're skipping a model year in the US. The facelifted car will be a 2021. Dealer's probably don't have availability or order guides yet. If you're on good terms with a dealer the might give you more information on when they'll have it.

The facelift includes new front/rear fascias and touch screen MMI (bye bye MMI knob/controller).

I thought they were skipping the RS5 only? I heard the A5/S5 were getting minor updates but will be released in 2020

Just spoke with a sales manager.... he said the 2020's are marked as "factory hold" or something like that, meaning the production line is having some kind of issue. He said they are all marked as "ETA: TBD" in the computers.

    Interesting.

I've been working on this for awhile, and still don't have an answer. I'm looking at the 2020 S5 which I like the front a lot more than the 2019, but my lease on my Alfa expires in Feb so need to start making moves ASAP.

Anyways, have been getting different answers from different dealers. They are for sure coming, as one sent me the order guide for it. One dealer told me they're coming late Jan/early Feb, but another said they're not coming til late March.

It does seem they're desperate to move the 2019's though, so not sure if Audi is holding these back until they can move some of those.

Don't know what you may want to read into this, but the facelifted B9's aren't even on the U.K. configurator yet. Despite a report from Audi Media last month stating they will be available in spring of 2020, it appears only the German Audi website is currently showing facelifted models.

I hope we can find iut what is going on with this. Same thing happened to me in 2017. I had a 2014 S4 that was lost in an accident and Audi was not clear about when cars were coming. I ended up with a 2017 Alfa Guila but am hoping for a 2020 S5 SB this summer. Strange no dealers or sales folks can answer this question.

We are in a similar situation but I have more time. How do you know what the 2020 S5 looks like. I would love to see an order guide. Why are you leaving Alfa?

I was randomly looking at Audi USA's website last night and saw that a new batch of 2019 A5's and S5's are being shipped to several local dealers... they are listed as "In transit from port" on the website.

If they are still shipping 2019's I think that is a good sign that the 2020's won't be here for a while.

Not sure if this applies to US but Im from Canada and our website shows the coupe and sportback:

    https://www.audi.ca/ca/web/en/models...coupe-new.html

    https://www.audi.ca/ca/web/en/models...tback-new.html

I placed an order for 2020 S5 SB. Production date is around end of Jan to be delivered around March.

Well that looks like good news for the US. 2020 appears to be an amazing looking car. Can’t wait to see the order guide.

I have the order guide that was e-mailed to me from my local Audi dealer, not sure if I can attach it here though.

Kinda bummed that it likely won't be available in time for me to get before my Alfa lease is up. I guess on the plus side is that I think I'll be able to get a killer deal on the 2019 model as they struggle to move them.

Really do like my Giulia, but lease is up and just about to hit 45k miles, so time for a new car. Don't trust the reliability of it, and frankly looking for a little more engine so going to jump to the S5.

If Alfa did make an intermediate comparable to the S5 then would be a difficult decision what to do here.

I have similar concerns with the Alfa reliability. I have a ECU tune on my Giulia TI and it is a blast to drive. I think it close to the S4’s I had in performance. Very nimble and quite quick. Wondering what the lease terms will be on the S5.

I was wondering why the other models had a 2020 version and the A/S5 didn't. I like the refresh, especially the new touchscreen/MMI.

Interesting, was debating keeping the Alfa and getting an ECU tune on it, but wasn't sure how much of an impact it would have given it's already got 280hp but never really looked into it. Who did yours, and do you know the stats on the improvement for hp and torque?

Eurocompulsion. Done thru the OBD port. Various level of tunes available. I have phase II which adds alot of HP and torque. You can check their website. Difference is night and day. Makes the car real fun to drive. I have not had any side effects. I have had many tunes, including on S4’s and the Eurocompulsion is very strong.

I ended up getting a 2019 with the same options as before.... saved a little because it's the end of the model year. Luckily they had a ship coming in to port with a full load of 2019 A5/S5's, including the Daytona Gray Pearl, fully loaded, exactly like my old one.

They had a 2020 A4 on the lot with the new touchscreen MMI... it's a matter of preference I guess, but I did NOT like it. I got used to the spin-dial and could use it w/o looking at the screen. With the touchscreen, you have to take your eyes off the road, and reach for the screen every time to do anything. Meh.

Nice, yeah they have a bunch of 2019's sitting around here too so may end up going that route, but really do prefer the 2020 look so I'm kinda torn. Though my lease is up in 4 weeks I may not have a choice to wait any longer haha.

Mind sharing roughly how much you were able to get off MSRP?

They are already marked $1500 off the original MSRP (even on AudiUsa's website) and I negotiated another $1000 off to use their Audi financing instead of my own bank. I wasn't really playing hardball, I just wanted the car.

I did like the minor tweaks of some things on the 2020's, but the MMI was a deal breaker.
