17 A3 Rear Door Handle Broke Off

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, my friend is in a bit of a tough spot. A couple weeks ago we had bad icing in our area which covered cars in inches of ice. My friend went to open her rear passenger door when the entire handle broke off. She said she pulled it as normal, and the entire thing came off. Wondering if anyone had any experiences similar to this or experience with the door handles in general. Attached are some photos she quickly sent me, I can have her send more if that helps. Thanks guys!

You can find replacements on eBay and aliexpress pretty cheap. Must of been super cold for an inch and this to make the plastic shatter.

    A first for me.

Easy to put back on, looks like the retaining clip came loose, see video in link:

Ive seen that before reported on other forums. Not uncommon but easy to fix. Id recommend she stay with OEM but thats just me. Also tell her she has nice nails :) It will make her feel better after this crappy experience anyway

Do you remember if the fix was a whole new handle? I’ll relay the message, she’ll like that lol.

I work at an Audi dealer and for 4 winters I have yet to see it happen.

Happened to mine. Just slid the handle back in and replaced the cap that went missing.

Given that it's the rear I expect that the wire mentioned in the video is not an issue. I suppose that the only thing to worry about is that clip inside the door that holds the cover piece. Make sure that it's in the released position and it would seem that everything will just pop back in.

Not necessarily. You can buy components - https://www.audiusaparts.com/auto-pa...-hardware-scat

Scroll to the bottom of the page for the rear door assemblies
