    2017 A6 2.0 mods?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
New to the audi scene and been browsing and browsing for any mods for the 2.0. I see a lot for the 3.0.

Any recommendations for a tune and other mods that will not void my warranty?

Check the B8 forum. The 2.0T between the cars should be the same. Just about anything engine-wise that works for those cars should work on yours. What are the details on the car-- FWD or AWD? Certified Pre-Owned?

What's your goal and budget? A rear sway bar upgrade can dramatically change the handling of the car as well. This and a tune are probably the single biggest bang-for-your-buck upgrades you can do. I've been away from the 2.0T for a while, but APR is well-known and usually one of the first to develop tunes for new platforms. EPL may make a tune too but I'm not sure.

From the dealer's point of view, if you modify a subsystem of your car, that subsystem has voided warranty. Example, you lower the car with coilovers, and then the control arm bushings fail. They'll tell you it is due to the extra stress of the lowered suspension, so you will be SOL. With a tune, if the dealer scans and finds it, you will be marked TD1 and they can (and will try to) use it to void any kind of warranty work because you are tuned.
2016 A6 TDI Prestige - Tornado Gray. Malone Stage 2, DPF Delete, EGR blockoff, S6 F&R brakes, 034 RSB, RSNav S4, P3 v3 TDI gauge
2003 RS 6 - Misano Red. AMD ECU/TCU tune, KW V3s, Hotchkis sway bars, Phaeton brake ducts, red carbon fiber trim
    2005 allroad 6MT swap - Alpaca Beige
2003 allroad 6MT - Highland Green Metallic / Fern Green & Desert Green interior (1 of 15 max) - WIP
    2003 allroad 6MT - SOLD like a dumbass

I have an AWD and CPO. As far as goals, I have a new born coming so something to just "wake" the car up a bit. I was looking at the usually intake and exhaust (nothing loud, just more air flow out) and a tune.

    Got a kid coming? Congrats.

Save the dough. Kids are expensive. You'll spend in diapers alone what could buy you a ECU/TCU tune.

I have a B8.5 A4 with the 2.0T - APR seems to be the recommended tune to get. Other mods could be swaybar replacements or coilovers.

Being that you have a 2017 you actually have the gen 3 motor found in the B9 A4. Burger Motorsports makes a JB4 piggyback tuner for the B9, you could email them to confirm its compatibility with your car. I imagine it works though as the engines are the same.

The benefit of this is that you can easily remove it before going to the dealership for service and retain your warranty. Power gains are strong too. Currently the fastest B9 S4/5s & RS5 are running them. I'm beta testing one for the gen 2 motor and so far I am loving it.

Interesting, I will def contact them and see. As far as piggy back, I was able to find chipwerke and racechips. It's good to know that burger makes them also. Beta testing, any big diff from the gen 1?

The JB4 is a little more advanced than those options, you can do an impressive amount with JB4 especially with the optional bluetooth connection that links to your phone. Being more advanced also means that it is likely smoother and safer than other options. I know a lot of 3.0T guys run the chipwerke though so I'm sure it's fairly stout.

And by Gen 2 I mean for the EA888 Gen 2 engine. Although they already have a product on the market for your EA888 Gen 3 engine, they don't have an offering for the older 2.0T engines yet. I'm testing a product for the older engine.

I'm just saying that in my experience with a JB4, albeit on an older engine, I'm am very pleased with the results, so I'm confident that getting a JB4 for your car will make you satisfied.

Most tunes will void your warranty. If it’s still CPO, use a piggyback module and take if off before visiting the dealer.

I’m in a similar situation with my CPO A4. Waiting on it to warranty out before I upgrade or mod it.

    The JB4 sounds promising.

Awesome, I will definitely reach out to BMS and pick their brains before pulling the trigger. And the JB4 is a piggyback or ecu tuner? from the looks, looks like a ecu tuner.

It’s a piggy back, plugs into a few sensors under the hood and then the obd port. You can make adjustments to the map though, and if they update the base maps you can download them to the JB4 and have the latest version. It does not alter the software on the ecu though.

Awesome! Thanks a lot. I've emailed Burgen, just waiting for confirmation.

So, if the c7 2.0 engine is the same as the b8....the intake "should" fit also right?

Also, whats the big deal about getting a dipstick lol.

    Your 2017 C7 has a B9 A4 engine NOT a B8 A4 engine.

With regards to the dipstick, if you have to ask I’m guessing you don’t change your own oil...in which case don’t worry about it haha

Ahh, so pretty much, the B9 A4 stuff "should" fit?

haha, I do change my own oil but I've been reading that some people consider it a "mod" and wasn't sure if there is a "real" reason to get it lol.

Some B9 stuff should fit, I would do research before purchasing an intake or anything as engine bay layout is a little different, but there is cross compatibility to an extent.

The reason to get a dipstick is because using the mmi to check oil level is a pain. You have to drive the car a few miles for it to get a reading. It just makes oil changes easier
