    Fuel Injector Connector Replacement

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi All - In the process of removing the intake manifold, I broke off several of the locking taps from the fuel injector connectors for my B6 S4. I found the connector on ECS (link below - PN 06A973722), but cannot for the life of me figure out how to de-pin the existing damaged ones.

I've searched high and low for a DIY or youtube video without any luck. I've had good luck replacing connector housings elsewhere, but this one has stumped me. How do I pull the center locking tap out/up? And is it a single pin type tool for removing the contacts?

Can anybody point me in the right direction? Is there a special tool I need? I feel like this info is out there I just am not typing in the right combo of words into google....

You’ll need a specific VAG junior power terminal removal tool. With one, it’s simple and done in a matter of seconds. Do not buy a cheap eBay tool, they don’t work.

The tool on the right in the ECS pic should do the job. You pull out the green sliding clip that hold the wires in the connector and then slide the tool in from the connector side and then slowly pull the wire out the other side.

How do I pull out the the green sliding clip? That is the part I’m struggling with, it seems locked in place. Do I need to unlock it somehow?

I’ve tried prying with picks and flat heads, and pulling with pliers and it just seems like I’m going to break it....

I can’t see the video because I’m on my way back from Europe and it’s a sh!tty WiFi connection but apparently this video show the VAG connectors.

I just put “repin vag injector connector” into google.

Yea I saw that video, but it doesn’t address these junior power connectors....

they’re all the bigger “classic” VAG connectors with the lock you pull towards the side of the connector

Since you are no trying to reuse the old plastic connector, the easiest way is to crush it with some channel lock pliers. They are usually so brittle they turn to dust in your hand. I just did all 8 connectors this way a few days ago. Using channel locks is the key. Set the jaws wide enough so you can't accidentally crush the wiring inside.

Thanks! After much searching and YouTube video watching I had started to come to this conclusion as well, I’ll give it a try tomorrow

A lot of time the plastic housing fractures when you insert the depinning tool and acts more like a nut cracker but from the inside-out.

Hey all, just to wrap this up for future DIYers, I found you could use the channel locks and with some reasonable success grip the front lock and pull the front retainer lock straight out.

The other portion of the time, the connector lock would crumble and you would have to use pliers to slowly disassemble the very brittle connector piece by piece until you could unload the contacts.

After that, loading the contacts into the new connector is a breeze.
