I'm not sure if I admire the way it sounds on my setup, I don't have the test pipes but I've got Miltek full exhaust with downpipes. What do you guys think?

From what I am tracking its not all that good for the vehicle..but if you are only going to keep the tune for a short while, have fun, but if you are looking to keep the engine for some time...de tune it...

I think it's cool that the tune is offered, and I think it sounds decent with your setup.

That being said, I wouldn't personally run it.

Our cars have some (enough) factory overrun built in, and I'm not particularly fond of this genre of tune, especially since every other BMW and Volkswagen in my town drives by with a continuous stream of burbles and pops, it's kind of become played out around here. Personal opinion only.

One of my buddies had his E63s burble tuned about a year ago and he said it was unbearable after a few days, ended up having it reflashed a week later. The novelty wore off.

As for me, I have a relatively unresonated stage 1 MT and I can make the car overrun enough in tunnels or passing by crowds that it sounds cool in my opinion, but I like the option of keeping it quiet the rest of the time and not sounding like a drive-by when I'm coming home late at night

I think it sounds great but that's just me. It's all about personal preference on what you like. I have it on my S5 with a custom exhaust and I still have my factory cats. Also I'm pretty sure if it was bad for the motor IE would have never released it... But it is true that it will burn the cats out over time. Luckily I already have a set of test pipes laying around for when that happens. I can also see what @rrated is saying with his buddies E63. My buddies 2011 C63 has it and it's absolutely unbearable because it sounds like a machine gun constantly going off in every gear lol. Lucky for us IE just gave us a satisfying amount and nothing like what he has on his AMG.

Not sure I agree with the "if it was bad for the motor they wouldn't have released it" logic. Why wouldn't they? They aren't providing a warranty on your motor along with the tune, are they? What do they care if it's bad for the car? This goes for any tuner, not just IE.

Obviously, they wouldn't likely sell anything that is known to immediately grenade the motor because they'd get a bad reputation and go out of business. But it's foolish to assume that because someone sells it, it MUST not be harmful.

I mean I just figured it was fuel overrun which wouldn't really do anything bad except eventually load up the cats (and waste some gas)

    "EXHAUST CRACKLE
Give your supercharged engine an aggressive sporty sound. This new feature makes your S car sound like a true performance machine when you rev, decelerate, or let off the throttle for gear changes. This exhaust crackle is completely safe and entirely addicting. Optional feature for Stage 2 and above tunes.
    "

Taken from IE's site. Now, I agree that there will be some form of "wear" with this type of tune. Heck, even if you tune to regular stage 1 from any tuner you assume more wear and tear than the car was originally designed for. It's the risk everyone takes tuning vehicles. Their crackle isn't as aggressive as other tuners might do on a crackle tune. My daily commutes I don't even hear it activate. It's only when I WOT and let off the throttle or just rev the car in park I hear the crackles and pops. Do what you want and just know that there are risks with ANY modifications on any vehicle.

@EstorilS4 I apologize for sounding really vague on my last post. Of course no matter what, the faster you want to go the quicker parts on your car go bad and the more attentive you need to be with your car. My point was to just state that I don't believe any tuning company would release something for everyone's cars without at least verifying what components would/could go bad. Of course things will go bad as time goes on with any sort of tune, pulley, crackle etc but that's a risk that you should be willing to take if you plan upgrading your car any higher than stock. Again my apologies for not really explaining my opinion in detail. At the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference on whether you like/want it or not. I'm just glad that tuners like IE/034 really are listening to us and releasing optional things like this for the select group of people who do like the sounds.

No need to apologize! Agree it's nice that vendors are listening.

I agree with you guys that it doesn't appear to be entirely healthy for the vehicle because it definitely creates a lot of pre detonation in my pipes and smears smog on my chrome tips. I will be de tuning it today. I love the way the car sounds without the burple. Thanks for the feedback.
