I'm wondering this as well. Looking up the OEM part numbers, it looks like the 2.0/2.5/2.9/3.0 all share the same coil but the 4.0 lists a different part number. So pfar54, yes this should be an upgrade on the 3.0t, but us 4.0t guys are gonna need more proof that its an upgrade and not just a replacement.

    These aren't for the 3.0t Supercharged engine, but the 3.0t Turbocharged found in the B9 S4/S5/SQ5, C8 A6/A7, D5 A8.

I'd be happy to test a set when I have their stage II ecu and DSG done next month. My shop is an APR dealer, so I'm sure this might be easy to try out....

or maybe not... I'm doing rs7 plugs gapped to spec by APR already, so...

If you're already in there, might as well do it. Go with 1 step cooler than stock plugs.

Is there a reason why? The 3.0t uses the same OEM coil as the 2.5/2.9 listed in the description.

So what coil does the 4.0 match closest to? Most of the ones listed use the same OEM coil but the 4.0 is different.

The C7 3.0T (supercharged) and C8 2.9T/3.0T (Turbo) differ. Only the turbo platform is compatible with this style coil. As for part numbers, which ones are you comparing? There are numerous parts.

Looks like we're in agreement. I was referring 3.0t as the 2018/2019+ turbo 3.0 - I agree the supercharged 3.0 has a completely different style coil.

Any comment on where the 4.0T coils fall in your chart? Dwell times used in your tunes?

What would be the real life results or outcome of using these? Any power gain, reduction of misfires, ability to open the spark plug gap a bit, or something tangible?

Just trying to understand as I've had good success with OEM coils, so I guess I'm just not understanding what that extra 10% of energy output from these coils get us if we are not experiencing any problems with the OEM coils?

Is the situation of these coil packs like a battery that has 800 cranking amps versus one that gets 900 cranking amps? Sure the 900 cranking amp battery has more energy when cranking than the 800 cranking amps battery, but if the 800 cranking amps does everything it's suppose to do without issue, then getting the 900 cranking amps is not really providing any real benefit..

Price can also be a benefit.
OE coils are $52.28 each on ecs and $34.07 on audiusaparts.com.

Price is about the same or negligible.. I'm looking for actual performance data or tangible benefits of the coil itself when used for our application/platform...

Basically, why would I buy these if my OEM coils are performing just fine? and why would I buy them over OEM when I'm swapping the OEM ones out for maintenance? What is that extra 10% of energy doing for me? Hoping Arin can chime in...

Also, not mentioned here (other than the colour) are the R8 coils. Not sure of the legitimacy of the claim, but I remember there was some testing done a few years ago that showed the R8 coils to have increase in energy output over the coils tested in this thread.
Were the R8 coils ever tested or compared to the APR offering?

Why are you saying higher energy output if it was not compared to, the factory 4.0t coil. Does this mean I can gap my plugs 10% wider or 10% less likely for spark to blow out

My bet is they are essentially R8 coils with APR logo.

The R8 uses a different style coil.
