APR Ignition Coils are designed to be a direct plug-and-play upgrade to factory coils, and provide greater energy output, ensuring a stronger and more consistent spark. The commonplace replacement of factory ignition coils with those taken from higher output Audi RS models, such as the 2.5T, is popularly believed to provide greater energy output. However, testing proves that they are no more powerful than the factory coils that are found on 1.8T and 2.0T engines. APR Ignition Coils increase energy output by 10%. They are a direct upgrade or replacement, and come with the coveted red housing made popular by the Audi R8!

    Features:

    • 10% more energy output than stock
    • Red housing with APR Logo
    • True upgrade, not just aesthetic
    • Direct plug-and-play

For us guy’s that already have stage two/three hardware if we grab your coil’s is there a benefit to going colder with the plugs?

If there is, do you have any plug recommendations Arin?

Yes, they have higher energy output, so less chances of misfires, weak spark activity, blown out sparks, and the need to have tighter spark gap.

    I don't have a plug recommendation yet.

    I don't have a plug recommendation yet.
Without plugs, I'm not really seeing the benefit in these coils to be honest. If anything, wouldn't they be detrimental right now as the cylinder would run at a higher temperature due to the increase in energy?

Until we can actually benefit from this higher energy output, I can't see these being better to run than stock coils for the majority of people, even those running upgrades. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there isn't anybody running into those issues on this platform?

Doesnt look like there are any options out there for us except for oem plugs for now. Im sure you could buy some and gap them to the specs of the oem plugs.

Yeah I don’t see any benefit. There was someone that ran it on their car with stock plugs and made no difference tbh. Other than it being red. And kind of point less when apr posts something but has no plug recommendation or anything else other than a picture of a graph. 🤷🏼*♂️
