Heated/cooled cup holder, how great is it?

Alright so I slid into my 2015 sq5 premium plus a little over a year ago without doing much research on sub models, packages, etc. I was on a time restraint because I sold my pick up quicker than I intended and my wife and I were sharing a car till I found something to replace it, no fault but my own. I wanted to move from a pick up to an SUV but wanted something quick and the Audi ticked all the boxes along with a few others. Anyways fast forward a year later I finally joined here and low and behold I start finding out all these options I’d have much rather had (Black optics, I hate chrome)

Anyways I need to know, is the heated and cooled cup holder amazing? Or does it sound much better than it preforms?

It is OK for cooling, never tried heating....I think it only came on Prestige trim levels.
I searched a long time to find a B8.5 SQ5 with Prestige trim level because that is the only trim level that you can get the Adaptive Cruise / Automatic Emergency Braking option on.

Dude, this was hyperbole. I have a B9, this isn't an option for me.

Agreed! Would never pay extra for it, but it’s awesome.

Or you could just save your money and buy a Yeti or RTIC drink tumbler that will cost you all of $20ish dollars. Keeps stuff hot or cold for hours and it never breaks! A heating/cooling cup holder IMO is something expensive that can potentially break as the vehicle gets older.

no argument there and i do have a yeti, just the idea of it is pretty sweet. im also more so curious how well it works. example; if i was on a road trip in the summer and picked up a drink at a gas station would it keep my drink cool for hours longer than if i did not have it?

I can't give you first hand experience, but I would think it works mediocre at best. IDK about you, but who really takes hours to drink something? If it's that hot out your probably going to have your a/c on keeping the cabin cool-ish and probably pretty thirsty where you would drink a cold drink pretty fast. It's a lot like the OEM "cooling" ventilated seats, where those are more like fans for your butt rather than a cold blast of a/c.
