Hi guys new here I have tried to search and checked the internet a lot of mixed feeling about it. I opted for fixed suspension but can still change it. The car will not be my daily will be fun weekend/ track car. I plan to do full build and ims1000. What are you guys thoughts and feed back on the Audi mag ride? Thanks

I don't like the magnetic ride on the RS3. Is not my first magnetic ride on Audis , I had a few already on other platforms but I am not thrilled on the RS3. You can still feel the difference when you make the changes but I prefer the tradicional sport suspension. I have had sports cars with stock sports suspensions and it feels much better in every way. The only reason why I didn't pick the standard suspension on the RS3 is because I was forced to buy the dynamic plus package with the carbon fiber brakes, the TPMS and all of that.

In my opinion the standard suspension should be just that!! Standard!!! and the magnetic should be extra (premium) but Audi marketing does things the other way around. Just like Audi Charges you $400 for red painted calipers on a S3 so find out that the paints peels off quickly. Go and ride a RS3 with and without mag ride if you can.

I drove a 2019 with it. My current summer weekend car Volvo S60R had 4c factory 3 button adjustment it was crashy and all over the road. I ditched it for Kw V2's and never looked back. Figured Audi same idea behind the mag ride so went with fixed and just want to be sure I made the right choice. There is no price difference for with it or without on 2020. Thanks guys.

If you really want to go coilover save your money on magride, if you think you may want to just lower your car a little, magride will do an excellent job with most lowering springs.

I agree with OE2.... the magride system is worth every penny IF you do not intend on upgrading to coilovers. If you plan to go with coilovers then it simply adds another layer of complexity and expense you have to deal with.

I love my fixed sport suspension. It is a little harsh on railroad tracks or potholes, but for the other 99% of the time, I have no complaints. My daily driver has the comfy suspension, my rs3 doesn't need it.

I bought mine with Mag ride because I loved it on my CTS-V; not so much on the RS3. Having Bilstein coil-overs installed as I type this and ditching the mag ride.

Had an RS 3 with Mag ride and when I traded for the TT RS went fixed. I very rarely ever drove in comfort mode in the RS3. Happy with my choice.

If you're going to do a full build then the question of which suspension to get from the factory is irrelevant. Unless, you don't plan on touching the suspension then I wouldn't consider that a full build but that's just my idea of what a full build is. If the car will be a track car then you'll probably want an aftermarket suspension system to take full advantage of the additional horsepower.

Stay with the fixed ride suspension ... it's the better choice. I use mine daily, it took me a bit to get use to it (had a 2018 Golf R), but I would never swap it now for the Mag ride. it just feels more precise

As above, if you’re going to hit the track then you will want better suspension than stock, either magride or fixed won’t do it.

Magride is great for ironing out the small bumps.

But with your power level goals and track use you will want coil overs. The big benefit of going fixed suspension is being able to replace it without the hassle of using mag ride deletes to fool the ecu. They are costly and troublesome.

I have had both these cars with mag ride and the Audi is way better then the s60Rs (assuming you're talking about the mid 2000s s60Rs.) I actually owned 3 of those cars and loved them. That system was advanced for its time but nothing like the Audi's mag ride. I have mag ride and enjoy it and came from a fixed suspension S3.

Full build is the plan I think fixed is the way to go. On the Volvo I had to cut up old shocks and plug the sensors in on the KW swap to avoid a cel.

I guess it really depends on the roads you're going to be driving. Here in SE Michigan, we have SHIT roads. Areas where rebar is showing through, mag ride is a must have here. I daily my car and notice a huge difference if I drive around with suspension in dynamic vs comfort. There's no way I would of gotten fixed sport suspension in such a small wheelbase car, coupled with skinny sidewall tires for a daily.

Roads here suck but again the Raptor is my daily so I think I will stay with fixed because of the full build plan.

That makes sense. Playing devils advocate. If you're gonna do a build(tune and or more?) why not just pick up a used one and save cash?

I looked at used but don't want a car someone beat the piss out of and then got rid of. I take proper care of everything I own and no exception for the Audi. Xpel and ceramic is first on the list. I want to start fresh new and built to my specs. I plan to keep for long time. Going on 12 years on the Volvo build and plan to keep that as well.

Based on your comments/discussion, I would go for fixed suspension. I got the mag ride due to the harsh comments about the fixed suspension. However, I regret it, and it will cost me an additional $400 for the DCC cancelers on top of the coilovers. To me, the RS3 drives like a boat.

Why not pick up a new 19? Can get one for 50-51k fully loaded right now, then the extra $ you have towards mods & whatever financial investments you make.

I just had the Bilstein PSS10 coil-overs installed along with the DCC cancelers, plus 034 camber plates. It's early but this car now drives like a true performance/sports car should...THIS coming from a BMW M owner. Can't wait to get it on the track.

Glad you were able to make up your mind, I have driven a friends 2018 with fixed and it was actually painful to drive after a few hours.. Haven't managed to borrow a 2019 Mag for more than 30 minutes.. so I'm really torn..Every 2019 with the options i want has the fixed suspension.. every one of the 177 left in Canada !
I agree completely that I don't want someones bagged crap .. I showed for a private test drive with ODIS ...( It was only driven on weekends by a little old lady :-) wanted to check the launch counter ... ummh ah no..
So planning to order a 2020 with ... Mag ride as it will be my Daily drive.. ( Mag ride is the default in Canada)

Had mag ride in 2017 S3 and never used another mode, on my TTRS I got fixed suspension granted I live in FL but I don’t notice too much more harshness from mag ride in dynamic to fixed, its stiffer but the car can still take bumps without breaking you

Make your choices based on how you will drive the car 90-99% of the time, not that one weekend a year. This is single biggest mistake people make.

Remember, you buying an Audi RS, which is a blend of performance and luxury, and they do a good job at balancing those. It is not a race car and isn't trying to be.

I think being able to change the shock stiffness is an amazing feature that I appreciate everyday. There is a very noticeable difference between dynamic and comfort on less than perfect roads.
