    Sai delete question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My a4 is currently under the knife with a blown cylinder head and close to being complete rebuilt with an awm head, while it's down I am doing a sai delete and have removed the combi valve and sai pump. My question is after removing the two aforementioned parts is there any need for the hard line that connects them? The part number of said pipe is 06B133607N. I have read multiple threads on the delete and I can't seem to see if it was reattached to the motor. All help will be greatly appreciated.

No there is not. Make sure you code out your SAI otherwise it will throw a MIL.

Keep in mind that there is a separate vacuum line attached to the SAI piping. Make sure you make accommodation for it if you completely remove it.

Any reason why I removed mine months ago and have not gotten a code for the SAI?

Someone probably coded it out once the pump started going, instead of replacing it.

Where would that vacuum line attach to? I tried looking for where it would attach but, I haven't found where it would run to. I removed the pipe 2 months ago and forgot to take pictures.

Probably not the clean way of doing it but I just used some pliers to crush the one time VW clamp that held the vacuum line on the combi valve. It seems to make a decent enough seal.

So both those hard lines goes to the combi valve? If so I got a blank off plate for that valve. I no longer have the valve installed. Also while doing this I did a pcv delete.

The vacuum line runs to a solenoid under the intake manifold. You can remove the solenoid, but you'll have to block off the vacuum line which supplies the solenoid. Also note that the N249 solenoid, used for controlling the diverter valve, resides under the intake manifold as well.

I think people are missing the question in the OP. He’s not talking about the vacuum line from the combi valve. He’s talking about the smaller pipe connected to the main SAI pipe. The smaller pipe goes to the suction jet pump. I’ve considered an SAI delete and always wondered what people did with it after removing the SAI pipe. I supposed you could run a piece of hose instead or maybe cut the two pipes apart and remove just the SAI portion.

See #14 on the diagram. The smaller diameter pipe is a portion of that run that goes from the TIP to the suction jet pump.

My hard pipes are 2 separate pieces so I removed the SAI one and left the other. Just cap off the valve under the intake that would ordinarily lead to the combi. The long hose to the tip stays across the t belt cover

Interesting, I had to separate my two hard pipes with an angle grinder. I could have left it, but I'm all for that clean engine bay life. I've also used a left over coolant hose instead, which achieves the same thing. What year is your A4?

I have an 04 A4. From what it looks like that smaller hard line runs to the N112 valve according to the diagram fr3zno. If it does I believe I capped off that valve along with bypassing the n249 valve.

Cressman90- Careful about deleting the N249 valve! There is a LONG but very informative article by Oldguy explaining exactly what the N249 does and why it should stay. Pretty easy to clean up the hoses and vacuum mess on our car without losing the N249!
