Source for Alcantara material

I need to reupholstered a headliner and A pillars in black Alcantara. It’s a project to do the work and I am not trying to save a few bucks on materials. I noticed there are listings on eBay for “Alcantara type” material. Is this decent quality? Any suggestions on a good source to purchase a quality roll?

Id probably stay away from eBay and go through a vender that deals with those types of materials.

Because it’s a headliner and a/b/c pillars make sure the alcantara you buy is foam backed. It will make the job 1000% easier

I've heard good things about Joanne Fabrics. I'm interested in doing the same and additionally the door cards. Post pics up when you get it done though!

Maybe I should just use the original fabric. I am not sure if there is any value added using Alcantara. Maybe the Alcantara adds some sound deadening qualities?

Personally I’d stay with stock material....not a fan how the Alcantara looks on those parts

Thanks. I am going to go stock. If it only had a few sags I would just repair it. The entire headliner is sagging and the a pillars are failing. It’s a black Avant and the heat must have baked the factory materials.

I don't believe it would help with noise reduction. Maybe if you have some foam backing materials behind it, then it might help.

I was about to ask has anyone found suitable factory replacement. Post back when you get sample and compare, I'll get some from them as well.

I've got lil bit of sag at the visors and the back window, no campming tent yet tho.

I would love to re-use the existing factory headliner and just replace the foam backing, but i think if I do this myself or if I get a shop to do it they will end up tearing the outer material becuase it might disintingrate during removal becuase its like like 18 or so years old.

I looked into it briefly and the quotes I got were around 3-400 just for the labor alone. Real alcantara is pretty damn pricey, but microsuede seems to provide a similar look at a much more friendly price.

Should be 3 yards for the liner in a sedan and another 1-2 if you want to re-do pillars and etcccc...

I am going to be doing my Avant so i am assuming 4 yards on the HL... If I do Alcantara thats some $$$$$, but it is a money pit already....

From a few hundreds to over $1k. Really depends on where you live.
I paid $300 for labor alone, but that's roughly 9 years ago and in Eugene, OR.

for alcantara in my avant, i was quoted $1400. For suede 800,stocklike material 400 (cheaper for sedan). This is in socal. I chose suede since it was very close in feel to the alcantara and i saved some bucks. The other added cost for alcantara is theres no foam backing so the installer will install a cheap foam backed material only to then overlay alcantara on top thereby increasing labor costs.

yup. thats what he told me...removal and reinstall. takes about 3-4 hrs depending. avant took about 5 hrs.

My buddy has a Nog/Nog avant and just had a set of Sportster CS front seats re upholstered to match the factory blue interior. He spent months and went through countless samples before he found a dead match. I will find the source and report back

Keep us posted.. My headliner has started at the back to sag about a foot and half so far... I will most likely do it myself...

I have seen Alcantara pricing from $50 -$190 a yard.. I am tempted to do a white/cream to match the sports seats and door cards in mine..

The seats I posted above are the kobalt blue. As you can see, it matches the original door cards perfectly.

The quality is excellent as well.
