    Q5 Backup camera installation question

    Hi everyone

I got most of the stuff installed for my backup camera, the screen works, and the backup lines on the screen appear when I shift into reverse. I just don't get a live image from the camera... I took some pictures of the wires in question which I feel could be causing the problem since they are not connected to anything (The bundle of wires in the first pic is connected to the camera itself from the trunk handle)

I currently have one red wire by the glove box which is not connected (see pic 3) and then towards the rear of the car I have one ground and one red wire which are not connected. I'm guessing I need to tap into a power source for the front red wire into the fuse box and another power and ground wire in the back for the other two wires in question, will the reverse light work for the back? For the front- What kind of fuse should I look for? (always on, engine on only, aux?)

    Thanks,

IMO wouldn't you just connect/bridge the red wire off of the yellow video connector coming from trunk handle camera to the red wire coming off the silver module. Then connect the red and black wire coming out towards the rear of the car to the fuse box in the trunk and a bare bolt for the ground? I'm surprised that it wasn't more plug and play using the silver module since it taps into the factory system.

I agree, when I purchased it I thought it would be much easier to install. So you're suggesting to connect that red wire in the front to the red wire that has the "ACC OUT" tag on it and then connect the red wire coming off the trunk handle to a fuse in the fusebox in the rear that's got auxiliary power and then of course ground is just a random bolt. is that correct?

Yessir, because I am guessing the red "ACC OUT" wire coming off the silver module would have not been cut if it wasn't for the video input connector. I mean heck it almost looks like the red wire coming out on the camera side might get power from the module red wire when they are connected. With random wiring like this, it pays to use a volt meter to see what is getting power or not so that you don't have to guess as much.

Does anyone know how the passenger side rear cargo area panel leading to the rear passenger area rocker panel trim w b pillar trim come out ?

I’m trying to run a wire from back to front for a rear camera and have gotten it from the hatch tail gate down to the spare tire area so far. The rest of it is not too obvious for me and I don’t want to break anything .....

Any help would be greatly appreciated
