Finally received my OBDeleven...found 34 problems

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Okay so yesterday I got my obdeleven hooked up. Ive been having trouble with my car running terrible lately and now its barely running. Changed plugs, coils, coil 4 pin connectors, 1 valve solenoid 2 pin connector, installed new aluminum housing water pump, new pcv valve and checked diverter valve I make sure its the piston style and it is and seems to be okay. After installing all of that the car still ran for a week but still lacking power. Became a dog especially under heavy load like hills. Car does leak oil from rear main seal and in the front of the motor towards to top by the round Cover with a 2 pin harness going to it...the camshaft magnetic adjuster I believe? Now Im trying to get it running to sell it. Too any headaches and its not too desirable...09 2.0t but with the cvt. So my codes that came up from the scan...U100800 diagnostic interface for data bus (static), P164D00 reduced oil pressure switch malfunction (intermittent), P227900 intake air system leak (static), P034100 camshaft position sensor circuit range (intermittent), P030100 cyl. 1 misfire (static), P030300 cyl. 3 misfire (static), P030400 cyl. 4 misfire (static), P030200 cyl. 2 misfire (static), P030000 multiple cylinder misfire (static), P150A00 engine off timer performance (static) all for engine, now trans scan came up with P072700 engine speed Inp. Circ. No signal (intermittent).....air conditioning scan 01206 signal for duration of -ignition off- implausible signal (intermittent).....gateway scan has 20 faults of code 03041 energy management active. Any ideas of what I could be dealing with here? I bought the ebdeleven starter and bought credits so I could upgrade to pro but it says not available for iOS yet. Please help!

Not sure I can help with the car, but I can help others to try to understand your post to get some answers!

Cursory glance tells me you need more than an OBD11, get yourself a VCDS.

    Good luck & Cheers!

Whats a reasonably priced Vcds? Im thinking maybe the rosstech hex-net mobile enthusiast or hex-v2 enthusiast and just buying a cheap laptop with the minimal requirements. Ill if I want to spend 500 on vcds tool and figure out the car isnt worth fixing. Is the rosstech my best bet price wise? Would those 2 systems work and is there anything else I would need to get to use those programs?

You have a rear main seal leak. That will cause lean codes, misfires, etc. Get that fixed, replace the PCV valve and go from there. I would also check chain tensioner condition, timing, etc.

And yes, when you have 30 codes clear them all and start over and try to troubleshoot as new codes come back.

VCDS is the software, the cable has the licensing built into it (records the VINs its used on and allows up to so many). HEX-V2 or HEX-NET. I only have a HEX-NET because they didn't have an upgrade option to HEX-V2. There's no need for the HEX-NET Wi-Fi stuff unless you know you want it to play with. Plus you use it with a laptop, so you can have whatever screen size you want (though the software is old programming, fixed small window size). There's no point spending more money on anything else over VCDS, unless you're trying to get some EEPROM programmer or ECU something or another functionality.

    1. How many miles are on this car?
    2. Is it in selling shape besides the motor or are there a bunch of crappy little problems all over?
    3. Bottom line, what is it really worth if you fix the motor?
    4. When was the timing chain done last?
    5. Can you do the main seal yourself or are you going to have to pay someone?
    6. Are the costs of 4 + 5 is greater than 3?

You can reduce that to 5/6 because those are the only ones that really matter.

Only had the car for 6 months,137k miles on motor. I could probably do rear main seal myself. Im no ase certified mechanic but Ive done plenty of work on cars that Im sure I could tackle it but having the time is another problem. I paid $4300 for the car. Really the car is in great looking condition. If the rear main seal was fixed and car ran good I would hope I could get what I paid for it 6 months ago. Im running the Vcds now. Not really sure what else Im able to find out by running it thought. The o my confirmed code I have is leak In Air intake system. The others for misfires and oil pressure on not confirmed. Probably since Ive cleared codes before getting Vcds
