Struggling to figure out what battery I need to buy

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey everyone,

I contacted AUDI service and asked them what was the recommended battery specification for a B7 2.0 TFSI S-line convertible

They kindly replied to me with a screenshot of their diagram software. The battery they sell for my car is 80Ah / 380A as you can see below

The thing is that when I search online for car batteries, the unit of measurement used to compare / rate batteries is CCA.

So I'm unsure how to proceed here.

The car battery currently in my car has 700 CCA and no information about aH or A.

Can someone explain to me how to shop for a battery and what I should be looking for exactly when buying a car battery?

Thank you very much for your help guys

Below is a photo of my car's battery FYI

In USA Its either a Group Size H7 or you can go H8. Both similar size approx 14"x 7" X7.5" the difference is the CCA The H8 has 900 CCA

I just buy OEM batteries. They’re made by Interstate in the US and they last 10 years. Just bought one right now for 140 bucks. Mine has the original battery in it. It lasted 14 years and 218k 👍🏻👍🏻 It started right up this morning but was a little slow to crank yesterday when it was 20 degrees out.

BCI battery group size 94R for most parts stores. A group 47 or 48 would do fine in non-winter areas. They all have the same base shape and the lock plate will hold them fine.

I've never seen a single battery in Canada last 14 years, that's not a bad life EA.

    I'm rocking a 1000CCA Optima yellow top i scored for a bargain.

Oops, I lied. The date is November 2011. Not bad though. 8 year old battery and it still cranks fine when above freezing.

    Thanks guys for your input.
Yeah it seems like we have different standards. When I googled "h7 car battery" it returns only US site results such as https://www.autozone.com/batteries-s...0-cca/319458_0

I'm in australia and it seems like this standard is not used here as I don't get any Australian results.

In australian stores this is the kind of product information they display

    Volts:12
    Tech:SMF Cal/Cal
    ASS:C (+R)
    CCA:700
    RC:130
    20 HR:70
    Ledges:F&EL
    Terminal:STD (recessed)

This one looks good actually https://www.batteriesplus.com.au/sho...a-car-battery/
But it doesn't say how manu Ah / A

Don't want to buy it from Audi because hey quoted me AUD400. It's twice as expensive as what I found on the market

    Hey guys,

I just zoomed in this battery picture https://www.batteriesplus.com.au/sho...a-car-battery/
and on the battery it reads 80Ah. Information they didn't put in the product description.

It matches the Audi battery specs so I think I'll go with that. It's half the price than at Audi

Can fit an H6, H7, or H8 from what I figured out.
