    100,000 km & Still Running Strong ('14 RS7)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just rolled over 100,000 km this past weekend. Car has treated me very well over the years. The only repairs have been a replaced thermostat and O2 sensor, both around 90,000 km. My DSC shows a fault code, but tells me it is fine to keep on driving and it hasn't been an issue and there appear to be no leaks from the shocks or hydraulic lines.

Starting to think about a new car, likely something smaller, but I will never be able to give up this kind of power!

    DRC fault?

I learned to hate that light on my RS7 with DRC.

How long have you had the car? Have you done anything to the oil screen/turbos?

    This is reassuring (I think)

I'm at 51kms but fairly heavily modded on my 2017 RS7. I'd love for it to stick around until 171kms but I feel like something bad will go long before then.

Thinking about grabbing a winter daily as to not daily the RS during the winter months and save some km's on her. But the wife will likely kill me in my sleep if I get another car haha. Apparently 1 person doesn't "need" 3 cars, but that seems like hogwash to me!!

You are at the threshhold mileage where folks have been seeing turbo failures secondary to the oil screen that feeds the turbo lines becoming clogged. If you plan on holding on to the car, I would highly suggest swapping out to the latest part numbers of the turbo oil screen and the oil separator (PCV). Essentially the same exact labor, as you have to remove the PCV in order to get to the turbo oil screen. Labor is difficult, (about 10 to 12 hours), as the entire front clip and charge air cooler housing need to be removed in order to get to these parts.
Recommend getting new parts online and finding a trusted indy shop to do it. You may also want to get all new turbo lines/gaskets, as many folks have been finding dry rot at the gaskets due to high heat levels. Also minimal additional labor, since they'll be fully exposed when getting to the other parts. If you are mechanically inclined, WhiteWhiteS7's thread on this forum is an excellent DIY.

Been away for quite a while, but just had full service done and inspection of the turbos. All good. That being said, roughly how much are the above-mentioned parts? I assume not much in comparison to the 10 to 12 hrs labour. I am likely going to keep the car for a couple more years (say another 40 to 50,000 km) for a total of 150K or ~95K miles.

That's great to hear all is good with the turbos. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay to get them inspected? The extended warranty on mine runs out soon, and I've been going back and forth with selling it, extending the warranty, or tuning it and hoping for the best!

My non-dealer mechanic inspected from the inlet side for no charge.

@96,000KM. No engine issues after a fuel pump replacement at around 20,000KM.

If it helps, that issue was diagnosed after engine would momentarily cut out at high RPM's.

Stock turbos, regular service intervals. Always make sure I take the long way home so oil gets up to at least 90 degree Celsius.....and because its more fun that way.

Power train seems to have held up well considering the amount of HP these cars make. only major fault recently has been leaking front DRC struts which Audi Canada offered to pay 70% of costs out of good will....and me nagging.

Just rolling through 200k kilometers on my 16 S6. Good to see others doing some miles as well. Do we have a mileage thread for these puppies?

Just clicked over 90k miles so just under 150k km, 2015 non performance RS7, APR Stage 1 for the last 40k miles, just had to replace the rear sports diff but then running 1100+NM of torque through it, it’s the first repair that’s had to be done of any kind in 5 years so I can’t complain

    100,000km is hardly anything.

I recently sold my 2013 S7 at 85k miles, and things were starting to go wrong. These SOB's are fragile.

Can I drive with PCV leak?

Well the troubles begin.... Now at 110K and I am having the whistling PCV issue. Started yesterday and what a whine it is. At first I thought it was the turbo bearings, but when I got home I found this service bulletin: https://testing-public.carmd.com/Tsb...107335/A171562 There is a great video link in the bulletin which is definitely the sound I have [URL="https://audi-external.kzoplatform.com/swf/player/311"].

Car is well out of warranty and it looks like there is about a full day of labour involved. I am at my cottage (300km) from my local guy, but there is a dealer 30km away, but I have never been a fan of the "stealership". Question is, can I drive the car back to Toronto or should I bite the bullet and let the local Audi dealer fix it?

    Thanks for any advice.

100k km is like a break-in period for a car :). That's 60k miles. Car in this area usually put on that many miles in about 3-4 years with the long commutes. My S6 has 93k miles pushing over 600whp and going strong. I don't expect any issues for at least another 60k miles with proper maintenance.

I've heard there's no harm running the car with a faulty PCV.

As long as you can suffer through the noise that is.

Also I think some people have put a bit of rag underneath the oil cap to allow some airflow into the engine to quiten the noise

Prepare for shock and ridicule from American's who recommend oil changes every 700 miles.
