    Gas Mileage?

I've been looking at B9 S4's for a new DD lately.

I recently had a loaner SQ5 from the dealer and man that thing got awful mileage. No better than 18 and I wasn't even in it. I drive a ton for work so I have to get something with half decent mileage.

My question is I realize the S4 weighs roughly 700lbs less than the SQ5 and they have the same engine, what are you guys seeing for real world mileage out of the S4?

its like two different cars when you change from comfort to sport/dynamic. Hogs the gas in dynamic sport, does pretty good in comfort if you don't boost it.

I get 18-22 mpg around town depending on driving style.

On the freeway, 27-33 depending on speed.

I drive mostly highway with a little city mixed in and I see about 22-23. When I drive a little harder I see around 17-18. Yeah definitely not great.

I get 29 to work and 24 home with more congestion. This is running in Auto D on a highway with several lights along the way.

I just swapped back to stock 18's from 20's for winter and my mileage now runs 26 to work and 21 home.

Why such a big difference between wheels? I have 18'. Damn do I need 20's or 19's for better mileage?

My commute is fairly short 7-10 km to work and I don't do too much highway and I wouldn't say I am overly aggressive. Usually in D and auto mode.

I only have about 2,000 km and I am averaging 14L/ 100 km or 17 MPG roughly. I hope it gets better as the car breaks in.
    Current - B8.5 SQ5 - stock for now!

Im at 5500mi on my car. Prob avg about 330mi a tank, i do 70% highway 30% street. I have an exhaust and intake on my car so not sure how that affects it. Not terrible but I fill up once a week.

As others have stated, if you're cruising at 70-75 on the highway you'll get up around 30mpg no problem at all.

As with any car, YMMV but for a daily but driven normally around town you'll see 18-20mpg. It's when you start hooning around down in Sport / Dynamic that you can really see the mpg drop off.

Probably because the stock wheels are heavier than my other set, but I didn't get the car for mileage either.

Fuel economy is going to depend massively on driving style and transmission mode.

I got 13mpg city and 20mpg highway on the old 3.0t supercharged cars

I get 15mpg city and 23mpg highway on the 3.0t turbocharged engine.

my numbers are from me driving in sport transmission mode 100% of the time and also driving spirited. My car sees redline on every drive and goes over 100mph weekly. Thats because its my fun car not a transportation appliance. I have other cars for commuting if i need to.

I say this just to offer you the illustration that theres a very wide range of fuel economy you may get.

If you drive the car in a restrained manner in D mode you could conceivably do 20mpg city and 30mpg at 70mph highway cruise control.

So it can do either. It will never be a consistent 30+mpg type car though. Its not that type of car.

S4/S5 are reasonable on gas mileage.

I will second the "below 20 average". Like mentioned above, I get about 19 avg in individual, about 16 in dynamic. But I get my gas at Sam's for 2.66/gal so it's not too bad. S4 may not be the right car if gas mileage is of concern to you.

Here you go: http://www.fuelly.com/car/audi/s4/2018 - "Based on data from 36 vehicles, 1,589 fuel-ups and 396,189 miles of driving, the 2018 Audi S4 gets a combined Avg MPG of 21.61 with a 0.21 MPG margin of error."

And here is my personal experience - I've averaged 21.5 since I got the car.. Ive tracked every tank: http://www.fuelly.com/car/audi/s4/2018/rickny/745979
I drive in S mode all the time, unless I'm on the highway and cruising above 65, then I switch to D. I always have DS on "Dynamic"

I’ve been 27-33 all summer for my just over 30 mile one way commute hat has 3 or so miles on each end of light to light. Of note is that now that it’s getting cold I’ve dropped about 5 mpg. I’m on OEM 19s.

19 around town cause I stay in low gears in S / Dynamic.

If I nurse it on a road trip I can get mid-high 20’s no problem

Strictly highway trips cruising around 65-75 is low 30s, best I got was 35mpg.

My average commute which is a mix of highway and city driving I usually get around 24-26mpg.

I'm averaging exactly 21 mpg in the Long Term memory reading. My drive to work is 5 miles of stop lights, but if I get in the 55-75 range I get really good mileage in the low 30s.

If youre getting 21mpg out of an rs7 thats pretty tame driving. I don't get that average out if the s5. I think youll see 25mpg at least out of an s4 driving the same way.

I get around 16mpg driving moderately aggressive in 55mph rural routes.
...which means i do enjoy redline wot acceleration on pretty much every drive but just to around 60mph.

Freeway driving in south Florida i set cruise control at 84mph and often am cruising at that speed right with traffic and police cars commuting. I set it to either 89mph or 94mph in low traffic rural areas. This is pretty common with other drivers around me and i do still get passed as i alway move over to the right and cruise there.

When im driving backroads to really have more fun it drops to 10 to 13mpg but thats really having fun.

If i need to do a boring commute i have a new Prius for that. Gets 48mpg driving it aggressively and cuise control at 84mph and fills up on 87 octane for 20 bucks. The other cars are for driving though...not commuting.

Something not right with your car if you're getting 10mpg unless you are redlining it 24/7 lol

If you redline the car literally 24/7 itll get around 5mpg. Track days you have to fill up usually after 2, thirty minute sessions. Whats that probably 80 miles to the tank.
