Can I install afs lights on non afs car? (I don’t care about afs)

I found a pair of ecodes that are AFS. I don’t have AFS.

    1. Is there an easy adapter kit I can buy?

If not or even If I can:

    2. Can I install AFS lights in non AFS car? I don’t care about the swivel when turning. If I can, are there error codes? Can i code them out with VAGCOM? If I can, I don’t care about AFS.

    Thanks!

Do NOT know. When I was researching mine (8.5) I BELIEVE I read posts from AFS car that went with non AFS. (do some google searches). I BELIEVE when I was researching, it appeared from pictures that ballasts are different between AFS and non-AFS. If that is the case, it does not appear that he is selling the ballasts.

Why go through with this? You have has other threads and we have conversed. JUST BUY THE ECODES THAT MATCH UP WITH YOUR VEHICLE per the other thread.

No the AFS will not work on your Non-AFS car, you will get a headlight range control error and they won't self level. The AFS headlights have two connectors running to them instead of just one.

THanks for the info on this. I was interested in these lights b/c they were less than a new set which I prefer not to to buy if possible to save some costs. Thanks for the info.

Yea, the connectors are the problem, you can program (with VCDS) the faults out but connecting them properly would mean hacking up the harness and there is no good reason to do that. Either go ahead and purchase the non-AFS lights or hold out until you see someone selling them. ECS has a good price on them, close to what others sell there used ones on here for but occasionally you will see a fairly cheap set. I mention ECS because I got a excellent used set off the classifieds here but one showed up broken (packed well but UPS treated the box like Gorilla's) and I purchased the replacement from ECS. They didn't have it in stock at the time so I did have to wait a couple of months for it to show up.
