    AUDI A4 3.2 V6 N/A - P2070 - Intake Manifold Tuning Valve

    Hi all,

I've owned my 2009 A4 3.2 for some time now and being that its a V6, I'm use to bad gas mileage. But now its getting worse to the point where I feel the burn.
    It performs worse than all my other V6 3.0 / 3.2L Audi's did. I've had the 2004 A4 and 2006 A6 and both were 3.2L motors.

I did a tune up which did nothing for gas mileage. Nor did it fix my harsh cold starts (car shudders and stutters until revs drop to normal).

The code I have stored is:
6569 - Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (Bank 1)
    P2070 00 [047] - Stuck Open

From what I've figured out, through the use of google is that there is either a cracked or damaged vacuum line or I need to replace the faulty Air Intake EGR Vacuum Purge Valve.

    TSB - https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...65428-2280.pdf -

Before I give my hard earned dollars to a mechanic to replace the part, I'm wondering if someone can shed some light on this issue.
The problem seems to be somewhat common in the 3.2 version given there's a TSB. I have no other codes stored and no CEL either.
Never had a CEL come up on this car over the past 3+ years. Just bad gas mileage and rough starts. Sometimes the car will choke during a warm start and lose power.
I thought fouled spark plugs and replaced all but didn't resolve the issue.

I'm guessing the issue here has something to do with the engine variable timing solenoid or the EGR vacuum solenoid. Just need some guidance on what to replace first or what to ask a mechanic to look into.
Most audi mechanic's will charge a bunch to diagnose and I've already had the scan done. The tech basically said to replace the entire intake manifold which I feel is excessive...

Hope to hear from someone who has had this issue and resolved it!

I dont know that engine and most here have the 2.0T.
But I can tell you rough cold starts and poor fuel economy could indicate you have a fuel injector stuck open.
This is not uncommon on the 2.0t so maybe they use the same fuel injectors. ?

    Is the 3.2 direct injection?

The 3.2L is FSI, so think first generation direct injection (2.0T and 3.2L FSI from B7 replaced by 2.0T and 3.0T TSI in B8).
For the B8, it was used in the 09 A4 sedan, the 09-10 A5 coupe, and the 09-12 Q5 crossover. These refer to the engine as CALA for the A4 and A5, 06E 100 031 F for '09, 06E 100 031 L for '10 (with secondary air pump). The Q5 apparently it was called CALB and used 06E 100 031 L for all years.

The 3.2L FSI for the B7 seems to be called BKH. No idea if they are the same, essentially the same, or different enough to thing of them as 3.2L FSI gen 1 and gen 2. I notice the TSB is just for 2005-2008 (B7).
It was also in the 09 A4 cabriolet, but that was a B7 chassis. So it was a BKH part number.

Looks like you just need to get in there with a vacuum gauge/pump and find what you can find.

In that instance, it appears it was one of the vacuum routing solenoids that was leaking.

The TSB refers to a diaphragm leaking, but I don't see any reference to EGR. The TSB is talking about part 2, should none of the lines seem a problem, as I read it.

Interesting that the site only lists B7 chassis years, not the 2009 A4 sedan (you're here in the A4 B8 forum, so I'm assuming you have a sedan and not a convertible).

Following, having the same problem.. The only difference is that I only have one code P207000 and mine is static.

Let me know if something works for you.
