2012 A6 3.0T wheel/tire question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I recently bought a 2012 A6 3.0T that currently has stock 18s. I found some wheels that came off a 2015 RS7. Will these fit my car without rubbing? If so, will they look too big? Sorry if it’s a dumb question, I have never bought aftermarket wheels before.

That wheel will probably fit, but what are the specs?

Rim width, and offset? The sportback has a lot more room inside those fender wells to work with. You may have the go down in tire width also... it may poke?

You may need spacers. As the rim size gets wider the offset for the A6 goes up. For a 20" rim on the A6 the stock offset is 49. The RS7 20" rim has an offset of 35 which means it sits 14mm closer to the center. So you may need a 12mm spacer or the tire may rub on the inside of the wheel well or suspension.

I'm almost certain that wheel will poke on the C7 A6/S6 the stock setup is 255/35/20 on 8.5 wide with et43.
But one never really knows until you test fit.

IMO the 21x9 ET25 would poke too much for my taste on an A6. Others may disagree and some even prefer this poked look.
20x9 ET35 is what I have and the most I would personally do. The extra 10mm offset plus the extra tire width of a 275 would not look good on an A6 IMO. Fine for an A7/S7/RS7 as they have wider fenders and more room anyway.
I do know some with extreme lowering like to do 20x9 ET25 or even 20x9.5 (or wider) ET25 with a 255 tire stretched over it so the tire tucks up under the fender. But it is not to my taste and on stock suspension it may look even worse.

Here is an example of those exact wheels 21x9 ET25 with 265/30 tires on an S6 where it looks good in pictures, but again IMO I don't like the way ET25 looks in person. (I know we are splitting hairs.) (BTW he is lowered 17mm from stock)
