Exclamation Battery drain issue with A3 8p

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello.

I've got a problem with my A3 8p, model year 2005. Everything seems to work properly, but if the car stands for a few days in my garage, its battery drains so empty that the car isn't able to start. Actually nothing seems to power up in the car, not even any warning lights etc. This means that the battery must be disconnected at all times when the car is not being driven. Only suspicious thing in the car is the red triangle-shaped hazard flasher button in the middle of the dashboard, which stays on even if the car is locked and all the lights are turned off

I made an auto scan with VCDS software, and i got the codes below. Some advice for solving my problem would be extremely helpful, because the car can't be used in daily driving due its current condition.

    VCDS autoscan:

Does it beep when you lock it?

I would look at the single wire mode fault from the can module.

The rear door fault in HVAC seems odd, not sure I have seen that before.

Basically it sounds like either a wiring issue, broke, or shorting, or a module (broken/shorting) is keeping the car "alive" when it is parked and locked up so it is draining the battery.

A basic draw test would be the first step after just doing a quick check of some common wiring harness failure points, like where the wires pass through the doors, that sort of thing.

I agree, a simple clamp on amp meter will help alot. Put it around the negative cable, that will read the entire car. Get a base line for how big your drain is with all doors shut and car locked.
After that, pull 1 fuse at a time. Check the meter, if the drain has disappeared that will isolate the drain to a system, then you can tackle that area of the car until you find it. Sometimes it's very obvious, other times you may have days into it until you find it. 1 short could cause a number of faults to pop up. Electrical gremlins are a pain, I'm fighting my own as we speak.
