    Audi Advanced Key Fob Shell Replacement

    I've got a thread in the V8 specific forum documenting my troubles with my B8 S5. I think I've got an immobilizer issue. Since my question/problem applies to all B8 Audi's I thought I'd make a new thread. Anyways, my only key for the S5 is destroyed. The S5 script on the back is missing and the key has deep scratches in the buttons making them hard to press and honestly look ugly. I picked up a used S5 key for $20 thats in great condition and plan to swap the circuit board and key blade into it. Does anyone know if the immobilizer RFID chip is located on the circuit board or is it inside the key shell. If I swap the electronics and the old key blade will the car act differently?
    1993 Audi UrS4 (Fully Forged Motor, GT3076R Turbo)
    2002 VW Jetta Wagon TDi (minty TX 1-owner)

    Yes you can swap just the shell. It's part of the chip so your good. This obviously only helps with aesthetics if somethings wrong with your key you need to replace it.

    If you want to avoid the dealer and need replacment new keys PM me.

    I can get you new virgin keys if you ever need genuine nice and freshly new.

    Cool! So just hit the key a few times till the PCB comes out and put it in the new shell? Obviously transfer over the key blade.. Anything else that needs to be transferred over?

    No do not hit the key.... Use a small pic and lift the chip up it will slid out.

    Where is the chip? I was able to lock and unlock the car with the shell swap.
