    STRAIGHT PIPE + X PIPE??

Hey guys first time Audi owner and I'm kinda upset it took me 38 years to figure out this is definitely my favorite vehicle. Anyhow that being said I've never had to do exhaust work, my z71 already had a kick-ass system installed so I never picked up on what's what when it comes to the sound, where to place stuff , things of that nature so forgive my ignorance. I went ahead and had the car straight piped or muffler delete anyhow and just puts a smile on my face every time I put the pedal down. But I still wanna tune that raw sound and refine it I suppose you could say. I bought an x pipe but can't find a single example of one with that setup to get an idea. The straight pipe + xpipe. Will it be to raspy? I definitely don't wanna drown myself in the cab anD right now the straight pipe setup is perfect as far as that goes bc as soon as I let off the pedal it's back to normal . But again I want that sound refined and I guess I'm looking for input on should I, can I, will I need to tune it if I do, to raspy? I don't need a scream machine but do feel like there's a better time to be had although the straight pipe was dirt cheap and I was highly impressed. Thx for any input.

You must currently have just a muffler delete. I had a down-pipe resonator, center muffler (where most people remove to place in an x-pipe), and rear muffler delete all at once. It was legitimately one of the loudest vehicles I'd ever heard, and it still had cats. I put the down-pipe resonators back on and it's still very loud, both on and off throttle, but a steady foot and cruising speeds it's not bad for daily driving to my liking.

The louder set up was definitely raspy, especially over 3,000. More raspy than I'd like. I've got a good balance of rasp and deep, aggressive tones, now.

If you currently have JUST the rear mufflers removed, and want more sound, I'd say next step is to remove the center muffler and put in that x-pipe for yourself in it's place.

Hey thanks for the input. And yes your correct just the muffler delete so far. Told the guy at the shop I didn't need the loudest animal on the street but wanted some depth and he suggested starting where we did and I can't complain just want a lil more. Cool I'll give it a shot today and see what comes of it. At what point would I need to adjust the programming in the car from the free flow of the exhaust? I don't wanna start losing low end torque. Thx again

My current set up is about as loud, maybe SLIGHTLY louder than if you did a rear muffler delete and then replaced the center pipe with an x-pipe. Take a listen here to get an idea of how it'll sound, just a bit smoother and a little less "poppy."
