My Holy Grail - 2015 Sport Edition / Exclusive RS5 - Sport Classic Grey

    Hi Guys and Gals,

I don't post very often but...

I am a long-time member of the Audi/VW community, both personally and professionally, and thought I would finally post up the car I have had since January 2019.
I just thought I would share a rare car that I have had the privilege to own in these last months with some fellow Audi enthusiasts.
It's a Sport Edition RS5 and according to the Audi USA Press Release, there were only 75 of these made for the U.S. Market.
I found the car late last year in Florida and just had to have it.
The last of the NA V8's, the 7-Speed DSG, the look, the sound, the color combo, etc.
I really do enjoy driving this car and can say that it is a very capable machine.
I also love how it's both stealth and attractive at the same time. This is a hard feat to pull off and still have classic good looks that age well.
Ok, enough of my yapping, here are some stats and pics...

    Enjoy!

    VEHICLE SPECS:
    - Year/Make/Model: 2015 Audi RS5 Sport Edition (NAR)
    - Exterior Color: Audi Exclusive Color: Sport Classic Grey
Note: to be honest, I have not yet found the color code on any documentation in the car, even after pulling the battery from the trunk floor. But that is what I believe it to be based on a "preponderance of the evidence". The Sport Edition Press Release from Audi USA says the cars are Nardo Grey, Daytona Grey, or Exclusive but this car is NOT either of those base colors and has "Audi Exclusive Color" on the window sticker
    - Interior Color: Audi Exclusive Color: Black/Crimson Red two-tone color with Crimson Red Contrast Stitching throughout. Interior Trim/Inlays in Body Color (Sport Classic Grey).
    - Options/Packages:
    • Audi Exclusive Exterior Color
    • RS5 Sport Edition Package
    • Black Optics Package
    • Technology Package
    • Red Brake Calipers (steel brakes, not carbon ceramic)

    - Original MSRP: $90,225.00 (I did not buy it new but that's on the window sticker)
    - Mileage: 32,130 I bought the car with 30,800 miles in Jan. 2019)
    - Audi Press Release: https://www.audiusa.com/newsroom/new...-sport-edition

note: The car is currently posted up in the Classifieds section as a Feeler but that is not the purpose of my posting here. (I am just stating that to avoid any confusion about seeing the car here and if spotted in the Classifieds)

    Here are some pics.
NOTE: the color of this car is hard to capture on photos. The last pic at the bottom is closest to what I think the car looks like in person.

The location of this last picture was meant to be a joke, but I think it really captured the color of the car quite well.

    She’s a beauty.

I’d say it was Suzuka too. Just needs ecodes and black badges to complete the look.

Hot car. Don't sell it. Add some mods and realize just how far ahead of it's time the RS5 was.

That last photo doesn't really look like Suzuka, looks a bit darker. Sticker even says Audi Exclusive Color and Suzuka, AFIK, was available from 2013-2015 so it would not be exclusive.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Regarding the color, I have seen Suzuka in person and my car doesn’t look the same to me. Also, there is no pearl effect / metallic to this paint.

Most of my pictures on this post were taken in very strong direct sunlight so the car looks lighter than it does in person. Most days it looks like a light primer with a tinge of powder blue mixed in and covered with gloss clear coat. :-)

Definitely the JHM stage 2 ECU/TCU tune, best bang for the buck and saying that it wakes the car up is an understatement. After that, the exhaust of your choice for the sound alone and K&N filters for a mild bump on the aspiration side of things. Stage 1 is available in your neck of the woods (you flash the ECU yourself with a PC laptop and cable) and Stage 2 will be widely available soon.

The rest should all be suspension/wheel/brakes based.
-Michelin PS4S tires. If you're sticking with the OEM wheels, stay with the OEM size tire. Otherwise a lightweight 20x10" wheel with a 285 width tire to keep weight down.

-Carbotech 1521 pads. Daily drivable and low dusting. Compatible with their track pads if you ever decide to do a track day.

    -GMG or H&R sway bars.

-Coil-over suspension. I don't know what your pain threshold is but there are very good options for daily driven cars like mine or all-out weekend warriors. But generally speaking, the Bilstein PSS10 kit is exceptional and has progressive rate springs for a nice ride with the dampers on the softer end of things. There's also the Ohlins R&T kit which is also exceptional, linear rate spring, and probably a bit firmer overall than the Bilsteins. They'd be my personal choice (I own the Bilstein PSS10 kit currently). There's also the KW V3 kit which is double adjustable but you can get the settings wrong if you don't know what you're doing.

After that, it's nuanced. There are various chassis braces and inserts to firm things up as well as components to optimize various aspects of the car. But do the above and you'll be surprised at just how much better the car becomes while loosing nothing in daily utility or comfort.

And don't forget the proper maintenance including an eventual carbon cleaning. You can probably hold off on that for another 10-15K miles.

First mod if you're keeping the OEM wheels (which personally I love): ECS spacers. Increases the aggressiveness of the aesthetic, and easy on the wallet.

Anyone know what the 2015 petal wheels weigh? Have to be lighter than the rotors...

Thank you for the comprehensive list!

For me, if I did ever upgrade anything, the first thing would be the brake pads. I would like a little more initial bite and a pad compound that I could abuse, even with the weight of this car. I always feel that having confidence in your brakes makes for a better overall driving experience.

Exactly! BUT! Just remember your brakes/brake pads are only as good as your tires. You'd be shocked how much better your brakes will be with a set of quality hoops. I prefer Michelin PS4S myself but there are lots of good options out there which are better than the OEM Pirellis.

It's still there, but price got reduced lol. If I didn't want to modify everything, this car would be the ideal spec to hold value because of its exclusivity.

Just curious if this car is still for sale and the asking price?
I have a 2015 RS5 Nardo Gray sport edition that is bagged.
It has 33,000 miles on it.

Nice car! The bags are not exactly my personal cup of tea but I can certainly appreciate the effort to personalize such a nice car.

Yes, my car is still for sale with an asking price of $46.5k and 32k miles. It’s a 2015 Sport Edition in Exclusive Sport Classic Grey. Want to take home a second one? :-)

Your car is very nice. I really enjoy mine and just wanted to get an idea of what your selling price was. It’s a blast to drive and I would trade the naturally aspirated sound! Thanks for the info.

Hey I just wanted to share some information that may help you. I too bought a used Audi with the exclusive package and calling Audi Of America was no help. My window sticker also only stated exclusive color. How I ended up finding the correct paint code and what specific color the car was by actually calling the dealer that sold it (the dealer on the window sticker) and I finally got my paint code.

Yes, I tried that too and it didn’t work.
But someone from Audi of America called Germany to confirm the production color and it is indeed Sport Classic Gray.
