Thinking about running an x-pipe or h-pipe instead of the center resonator. I'd like more growl but don't want to do a whole exhaust at this point. Does anyone have any experience with this modification? I'm concerned about passing Ohio e-Check.

Yes I did it with an x-pipe. It sounds fantastic, zero issues with emissions (my experience). I used SoloMotorsports in Atlanta. You can go on their IG page and find pics of it - January of this year

so its a rumor that this decreases low-end torque? With a turbo motor i dont see how it couldnt do anything but help...

Did this on the S7 a little over a year ago. Butt dyno didn't detect any loss of torque but then I went APR stage I around 6 months post res-delete. I also removed the resonators upstream at the same time. I don't have any experience with what this did to emissions testing as thankfully I don't have to deal with that being in FL. Sound is certainly better than stock. IMO, it's how it SHOULD have sounded coming from Audi.

Any sound clips? In most videos I see, people tend to remove the center suitcase and the rear mufflers

I was looking at doing the same thing, replacing the center resonator with an x pipe but I can't seem to find any, does anyone know where I can purchase one?

You have the sport exhaust right? do you sometimes hear it sounds like the left side is louder than the right side? I have a sport exhaust with valves perm open and definitely can gear the left muffler is louder than the right. I also noted that the left side of the sport exhaust has the valve right before the muffler where the right side is after the muffler.

Did this on my s7 with sport exhaust. (x pipe with mid muffler/suitcase delete)
best mod since no real drone and gave me what i wanted in terms of sound without being too overbearing.
Any muffler shop can do it, doesnt need to be a specialty place.
Yes L side can be louder can R due to valve.
Butt dyno didnt notice a difference.
    But my ears were happy.

^ I want to clarify that if there are NOT sport mufflers installed, you will not hear much of a difference at all.
I did the same mod i just typed above , but to my current s8 without sport mufflers, and there is barely a difference before and after.

Two S6 side by side with sport exhaust, the one on the left is stock and the one on the right has the suitcase replaced with an x-pipe.

Agreed, I swapped out my resonators with an X pipe and replaced suitcase muffler with 2.5" pipes and made the exhaust 10% better. I then added AWE mufflers and now its incredible.

Car is a pre-facelift S7 with non Sport exhaust

I deleted the middle resonator on my 16' S6 with just a full straight pipe custom fabricated to fit perfectly with the sports exhaust. I kept the stock mufflers (for now) and programmed the valves to always stay open. You can check out my instagram @S6vagery, i have some sound clips on there and if youre looking for more clips just send me a dm. Cheers.

    added.

would love to hear what that sounds like .
Ive been wondering what it would sound like with just mufflers from a different aftermarket company.

if other folks go this route, you must program the valves to always stay open. the C7.5 has a valve that completely cuts off the driver's side (aka left) muffler, and it relies on the suitcase to push exhaust flow through the right muffler. so if you delete your suitcase with a straight pipe, your valves closing could cause problems.

so... the block off plug-ins are needed? It's not too much extra, nor is this mod altogether, but the first Ive head of this. Good to know (parts list updated).

you have to do something to ensure the valves always stay open. personally, i would just install an h or x pipe at either the baby resonators or the suitcase.

Is there a universal x-pipe that can be purchased for this application?

All I see for sale for an X pipe is an APR pipe which is supposed to be used with their exhaust. Does anybody know if that will work with my stock exhaust?

FYI there are some comments comparing the maganaflow quality at that link to much cheaper alternatives, like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003M2IKVE..._ipcFDbCX0NK6C

Just throwing it out there. Local shops probably have or can build something as good or better. Amazon has a great return policy though so might as well get both!

    found it:
    https://www.instagram.com/p/BtmMqjXh..._web_copy_link

interesting that you replaced the front resonators with the x-pipe. it's definitely not as common, but the work looks solid.

also, I just had this mod done today. I kept the "baby" resonators in the front and replace the "suitcase" muffler with an x-pipe. a couple observations:
    1. it is louder, so there is more highway drone. these basically go hand in hand. it is not intrusive, and at highway speeds its not louder than regular road noise.
    2. it really wakes up the sound of the car at lower, day-to-day speeds/revs
    3. if you're at 3k rpm and you lift off, you get that sweet crackling sound that i had from my V8 camaro
    4. an x-pipe really smooths the sound out, so while the volume is better, i don't like the sound quite as much. i prefer the slightly lumpy sound of the stock sport exhaust. if you also prefer that lumpy sound, then go with an h-pipe.

these observations were made on a 2017 S6 with the factory sport exhaust option.
