Need To Extract SKC from 2004 A4 (RB4) That Only Came With 1 Key

Hi everyone...I am new to Audi, as I recently bought my wife a 2004 A4 1.8T Quattro Wagon which only had 1 key when we bought it. I bought a new Key Fob Remote off of Ebay (sam part # as the original). Just had it cut yesterday & it works great, but now need the SKC so I can program it into the Immobilizer (the car didn't come with the SKC, of course). So I am trying to extract it so I can program the the new key into this A4's RB4 cluster.

I used VAG Eeprom Programmer to read & save the encrypted .BIN file, but later found out that the .BIN was still encrypted & so, no SKC was given. I am correct to understand that the next step VAG Eeprom Programmer would be for me to put the cluster into Mode 4, then read the decrypted .BIN to get the SKC???

Then put the cluster back into Mode 6 again, right? I am a bit hesitant about doing this, because I don't want to damage the cluster. Can anyone tell me if putting the cluster into Mode 4, reading the decrypted .BIN, & then putting it back to Mode 6 might damage it or not?

After much research here & elsewhere for days now, I also thought I could try VAG K+CAN Commander to extract the SKC, but can't find it. If anyone can help with that, I would really appreciate it...I have several cables. After I get the SKC I will program the new key using VCDS. I am glad that I still had VCDS on my old laptop from when we owned a 2001 Jetta 1.8T up until 2015.

Anyway, would appreciate some help...thanks in advance!

Blue VAGCOM(409.1) and VAG EEPROM Programmer will do the magic.

    Thanks for the reply!

So, as I wrote above, I should use VAG Eeprom Programmer, put the RB4 into Mode 4, read decrypted file (which will show the SKC), then save the decrypted file (as backup), then put the cluster back into Mode 6, right?

Make sure its a OEM key not a china clone as they dont come with immo pill and you wount be able to adapt it.

Normally you can spot the clone as they use a different font for the laser etched part number and information on the fob.

Update...successfully extracted SKC using VAG Eeprom Programmer, then adapted all keys using VAG-COM. Was very easy to do.

    Thanks for everyone's input!

Hello, I know this thread is a bit old but I am currently having the same issue with trying to get the SKC for my S4. I believe my dash is also encrypted, is there a chance you could tell me how went about getting the SKC? If possible a PM would be great! I am still newer to the forum and can't PM yet.

Depends on the vehicle. What year S4? Are we sure this vehicle is RB4 and not RB8?

Vag eeprommer as mentioned above, put in mode 4, get the SKC then use VCDS (licensed) cable to adapt the cluster to keys.
That's the only way I've heard of doing it reliably/ cheaply on an Rb4 cluster.

Rb8 is a different thing I never learned about.
