Question Changing headlight bulb on Audi A3/S3 8V (for pure white 5000-5500k light)?

I want to change the headlight bulbs on my 2016 S3. I have the Bi-Xenon headlights. The stock Xenon bulbs produce a slightly yellow light. I want to get 5000k or 5500k Xenon bulbs for a pure white light to better match the DRL LED color. I've tried Googling but I can't find much. Has anyone does this? Can I just buy the bulbs and install them or is a new ballast required? Some people say the entire front bumper has to be removed just to change the bulbs!

Your bulbs are D3S and I would highly recommend you picking up a set of Philips X-tremeVision. After these burn in, they will give you a color temp of roughly 4750k +/- 250ish. Here is a comparison of the Philips, to my OEM bulbs, but on my F30 BMW:

Give these at least 15hrs of burn in time and they will get brighter and whiter. Unfortunately, I'm not 100% certain about the bulb install as I have the LED headlights.

I changed mine out to 5000K. Replace the HID D3Sbulbs...

The headlight has to come off the car to be able to access the bulbs...

The front bumper cover has to come off to remove the headlight...

    BTDT! Fun!

Philips XV2's are great bulbs as zcspec mentioned.
However, if you are wanting somewhere 5500K range to get closer match to LED DRL, you might want to go with either Osram.

Which 5000k bulbs did you change to? Do you have any photos? Also, do you have to replace the ballast? I read somewhere that the stock ballast on S3's is 25 watts while most replacement Xenons bulbs with a higher kelvin are 35+.

    Only changed bulbs...

Bought a set of Genuine Osram D3s...as their are allot of cheap knock-off bulbs out there that dont last like the genuine article.

The label on the bulb states its wattage requirements. 35W Never heard of a 25W system...

This is the OEM Audi ballast...

Thanks a lot for the info! I guess what I read regarding the 25W system was incorrect or I'm misremembering.
