    Brake pads / discs for C6 RS6

    Hi all,

Has anyone got any opinions on brake pads / discs for the C6 RS6? Considering how few people own one, I'm having a lot of trouble finding decent replacements - I really don't want to spend $2,500 on the four corners, and I'm trying to find alternate options, but, well, coming up a bit dry.

Any experience with this? Pagid used to make rotors but they seem to OEM exclusively to Audi these days, and they weren't able to sell me anything direct.

    Cheers!

There’s not many that own an RS6 in this forum... if you are on Facebook, join the group “Just Audi Avants”...you’ll get an immediate answer to your question as there are lots of members with C6 RS6’s

    Hey,

I have a C6 RS6 and unfortunately the disc/rotor prices are pretty exorbitant regardless of whether you go OEM or aftermarket; in terms of aftermarket options you could try the two piece AP setup (meaning you just replace the outer rings when its time to replace the rotors). In terms of brake pads you can go OEM with BREMBO which will set you back between $100-125 for the fronts and between $60 and 80$ for the rears, which appears to be the cheapest option among the respected brands. I know a lot of guys swear by Ferodo DS2500 and some guys run Pagid but both these options are far more expensive than OEM, particularly for the fronts, but are supposed to give far better stopping power. The draw-back of increased stopping power is that they chew through the discs/rotors a lot quicker. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Do you run the Brembos as well? Curious what the part number is. Are they shared with any other vehicles? I keep having trouble finding the exact fit “compatible” models, hehe.

I was considering the AP rotors, but I’m not sure how long I’m keeping the car - I expect a set of rotors to last me ~50K+ kms, and I don’t put a lot of mileage on the car so that could actually last me almost 8 years - who knows what I’ll have by then, I could go bankrupt feeding it gas in the meantime. lol. So in that sense, any idea of compatible non-OEM options, or should I just bite the bullet?

Also, where do you find pads for 120? That’s like a third of what I see elsewhere. Are those AU prices? Hell, I’ll fly over if so :)

The BREMBO aftermarkets, which I believe are equivalent to OEM ,are Brembo Brake Pad Front Set (Low-Met) P50127 and Brembo Brake Pad Rear Set (Low-Met) P85143. With regard to discs I don't think that there are any 'cheap' options. I hear you with regards to filling up the beast. She does like a drink, a frequent one at that. Currently using mine as my daily driver whilst I sort out the brake upgrade on my A6 and having to fill up the 80L tank almost weekly.

By the way, I'm currently running the stock OEM setup. Had to replace the rear rotors and pads and went OEM at the time. Coming up to having the do the front myself and thinking about going with AP two piece setup with Pagid pads as I might do a track day soon and want the ability to stop car at the end of high speed straight without soiling myself.

Gotcha. Out of curiosity, where do you source your pads? I'm checking here locally and those part numbers are roughly 2x-3x the price of what you quote - curious if you actually regularly came across those prices, or you just got a great deal somewhere :) I come to AU every once in a while, so I can always grab them on the way out if there's a shop you recommend.

Sparesbox an Australian website have them advertised at those prices but they're currently out of stock it seems. Also Brembo USA have them advertised for $85, although they're coming up under Mercedes fitment, although I believe they are a direct swap (other than the brake pad sensors).
