2019 RS3 Sales Numbers

Hello, I'm a new Ara Blue RS3 owner and I was curious to find out how many other RS3s are out there so I called Audi USA and a nice lady emailed me some info. Thought I'd share for those interested:

Our records reflect the sales numbers for models built for the U.S. market:



· 438 - Model Year 2019 Audi RS3 models sold in the U.S.

· 62 - Model Year 2019 RS3 models with Ara Blue Crystal Effect exteriors sold in the U.S.

· 29 - Model Year 2019 Audi RS3 models with Ara Blue Crystal Effect exteriors and Black w/ Crescendo Red Stitching interiors sold in the U.S.

Obviously, this is a breakdown of the Ara Blue's, and she said she didn't have the data regarding packages -- only exterior and interior colors.

My dealer and Audi of America said that there won’t be any but I’ve read a few articles quoting Audi executives stating that there will be 2020 cars coming to the US with updated interiors and maybe more than 400 whp.

Our dealer didn't think there would be any 2020 RS3's? It would be pretty cool if they did. I'm sure they would make some great upgrades. Wondering if they would add an electric engine to boost the power?

If there is a 2020 it will be more of the same. The next RS3 doesn't debut for another 18 months or so and won't hit the streets until late 2021.

I did not, but after I got her email I replied asking if she could provide the breakdown by exterior color. I'll update if/when she replies. I was also interested in production numbers but she said she only had access to sales numbers, not production numbers. Anyone have production numbers?

I did not ask about the 2020 model, my dealer said there won't be a 2020 model.

Yeah, I was surprised by that too but keep in mind these are sales numbers, not production numbers. The latter of course being higher (and arguably the more interesting number). Unfortunately, they weren't able to provide production numbers.

Nardo is far from boring. Also every RS3 color listed above is available on the S3, except Nardo.

Even the A3 has Florett silver, Glacier white, Mythos and Tango.

In the real world where most people aren't seeing the RS3 every day (like we are on this forum), Nardo is a very eye-catching colour. I receive more compliments from people on the colour of my car than on the car itself. In my town (approx. 90,000 population), I believe I'm 1 of only 2 RS3's in town and seeing a car this colour is rare. I love Nardo to be honest.

And even though Nardo is the most popular color it’s still very rare, averaging about two per state or about 1 per 5 million US residents.

Mine isn't exclusive. However, Catalunya red is effectively an exclusive color at this point. Only '17/'18 RS3/TTRS have it in North America.
Even for the UK/EU pre facelift RS3, Catalunya red is super rare.


I'm just bitter because I'm trying to upgrade my flying tomato to a 981 GTS and finding a car with the options i want in something that ISN'T white/black/gray is an exercise in frustration. It's like 95% of cars out there are in some boring shade of black/white/gray. Why are people so afraid of color. ugh.

It's what dealers stock. Also why 90% of Porsches/BMW's on the lot are automatics. If more people were willing to order cars I'm sure we'd see more actual colors.

Love being boring in my nardo #1. second I have never seen another nardo in my 2 yrs owning my car. 3 most other "nardo" cars look like shit. that grey on Honda/Toyota looks like crap. Porsche "Chalk" is pretty nice. The Hemi one is ok but that makes it even better when I get to walk on them.
Note that I have a Nardo with Alu-trim, and a few Carbon pieces without all Black wheels so I must be on drugs, much worse then the other Nardo Nerds with Black trim b/c they are followers (Kidding).
Seriously I have only seen 2 other Rs3's on the road in 2 years, so regardless of color its pretty cool owning a Rs3

I used to see them a lot when I was living in the city (Winnipeg canada) now im in the maritimes for a little while and saw none when driving down there, and none driving around or going to Halifax (in nova scotia). Not even an S3. Golf R are everywhere though.

My dealer said if I ever want to sell my exclusive color RS3 they will give me top dollar. I just chuckled. Of course I just hit 1,000 miles on it so it is going to be a very low mile car. I picked up the new Supra, it is humorous the tuners on that platform remind me so much of this one but they really don't care about warranty voiding, if it makes it go faster they are ordering it.

I think these might need updated? Seemed like a big push at the end of 2019 - lots of these showed up at dealers.
