    Forge Recirculation Valve

Well, since all is back to normal as far as IAT's go, I figured I'd make this thread for the recirculating valve. Their revised instructions made the installation a step or two shorter. Less hassle, and more importantly, normal IAT's!

Installation was a breeze. Just make you sure have a T30 Torx bit or driver. Other than that, piece of cake. One tip I can give you, is that you should mount the solenoid on the given bracket, prior to installing. It would be tedious to do it while on the car. I also pre-rigged the vac lines so it would make life easier with zip ties. And don't forget to wait until the car is totally cooled down or you'll be working in a very hot area.

Fit and finish is great. No issues or defective looking parts. Tight tolerances. Something you'd expect from Forge.

    Now the good stuff.

The sound is the same on spool up, but much "tighter" and direct. More fluid. That stronger piston is making sure nothing is escaping until you let off or shift. And the "woosh" is much more precise and mechanical. Not as flabby or loose as the stock valve. Mind you, my AWE Intake has the lid option, so it's not as loud and obvious as the open style intakes. It sounds serious. The plastic piston on the stock valve takes less pressure to activate. Its on the loose side. And the Forge is stronger and has absolutely no wiggle room in it's moving parts. The tolerances are perfect and precise. I like that because it's functioning the way it should. And I like me some functioning parts.

The Forge Recirc valves performs well. There's precision with the boost. It gets back on boost quickly and gives the feeling of better throttle response. Quicker response. It's not making more power, but it's performing and utilizing the excess boost more efficiently. And faster. And adds a nice touch to the driver experience.

Now that it's all good from Forge and there aren't any hiccups with false readings, I definitely recommend this to those who care for the details I've mentioned above. I'm a function over form guy. If something is just going to sound "cool" with no other benefit, I'm not doing it. This has both. And form follows function with this Recirc valve. It was just a matter of preference choosing this over the Atmospheric Dump Valve. They perform the same, but sound different.

Anyway! Great mod, lots of fun and functionality. Big Thank you to Mops at Nemesis for the assist! He managed to get me, what we believe, was the first one in the US for the B9 S4. Of course he did! lol. He's the man. Hit him up if you want one! No regrets on this purchase.

Thank you for this thread, wasn't interested in the sound of the blow off valve. But this recirc valve is exactly what I want. Will be ordering one asap.

You will not be disappointed. I think Nemesis has a few in stock. My bro is getting one for his S5 SB

Thanks for your thread Esmin ! Your car is awesome 👏🏻

About Recirculating vs Atmospheric valves : Do you think they will perform just as equally good? I’m not running any high boost Turbo upgrade (I wish!), and just have the JB4 set in Map 5 with some E85 mix. I’ve read in some forums that the Atmospheric Valve will show its real benefits only when you have setups with very high boost pressure, but that recirculating valves tend to be better performing in the way to get back on boost quickly in cars like our S4/S5 B9. I’m still debating whether to keep the Atmospheric or going for the recirculating Valve 🤔

@Esmin23 very nice write up and video! So happy Forge sorted out the IATs, I can put this back in my “future mods” lists. Appreciate the time and the details. Enjoy the car!

    You're welcome bud!

I haven't tried the BOV myself. But i've always gone with just upgraded versions of the stock DV for all of my cars in the past. And I've read the same. It gets back on boost rather quickly. BOV's have their real benefit in high boost cars, like you said. I'm sure someone will pick up the BOV if you decide to sell on the forum

Thanks Yabi! And likewise, I'm happy they sorted out the issue. You won't regret it!

Nice job Esmin! Thank you for taking the time to sort this out. I did not want to part with my valve. The functional/performance benefit is quite apparent.

I ended up cancelling my BOV order to get a recirculation valve instead. Maybe I'll go with the BOV if I ever upgrade the turbo😅

Thanks Bud! It's no problem at all. Glad to help, but I want to thank you for the quick delivery and leading me to the right person to get this all sorted out. I'm sure you're getting bombarded with questions about them!

After reading the responses here, this is a rather unpopular opinion. I bought the Forged Recirculation Valve and did the install myself. I was not impressed, the fitment was forced. The passenger-side hose mount was pushed up against another hose, the instructions were not helpful for vacuum cap, the solenoid mount is a bad design (you need to remove it for every oil change), and when you have the solenoid mounted, you have another stressed connection (the hose presses firmly against another). Personally, did not want this on my vehicle. It would certainly need to be checked/replaced frequently.

    I have a 2021 SQ5 P+ S-Sport.

B9.5 S4. This Forge Recirc kept putting my car into limp mode. Double checked everything. I spoke to Forge who offers a “no CEL no questions asked refund” but they still fought me on taking it back. They eventually refunded me, but I wouldn’t suggest it.

The car ran fine for a minute or two and purged as it should have, but on the 3rd or 4th time it always went into limp.

OP here. It was functioning just fine for about a year. Then it also put me in limp mode. Got rid of it and went back to stock. I had hopes for this thing, since this forum helped their engineering team figure out a heatsink issue with their Gen 1 BPV setup. They had a fix then revised it.

This will work on all stages without issue. I've been stage 3+ for quite a while and I have zero issues on it. I had plenty of issues on both forge and go fast bits.

I ran one for a while, also went back to stock because of small issues that couldn't be diagnosed... they all went away once the stock part was back on.

@TunedB9S4 Turbosmart link was broken. Here's a link to the top level page. Go Fast Bits BOV have been crap since my MazdaSpeed days. Turbosmart was better but is there any real benefit for Audis tuned or not? I'm sure it's been debated to death already so no reply needed. Just rhetorical.

I had two fail, presumably due to the membrane. I wouldn't replace unless due to OEM failure.

This being said, it does have a nice blow-off sound after letting off the pedal under WOT.
