Noticed my coolant is a bit low, what do you use? Book says G12++ whatever that is. Something I can get other than the dealer?

What does it say on the reservoir? It’s either G12 or G13. What climate are you in? Either way if it’s just a bit low you can simply top it up with distilled water. If you see freezing temperatures in the winter then you probably want to mix the coil and about 50:50 with distilled water.

    This is G13...

Its G12. Poor wording on my question. Is there a compatible coolant other than from Audi - Autozone, etc?

ROWE bottles for VW/AUDI in Germany. You can find it on almost all of the standard websites for European parts. It's the same as genuine, for much cheaper.

So I bought the Audi coolant today, its pink. Whats in the car now is orange. Is the wrong one in the car? What baffles me is the car was at the Audi dealer in June for its 85k service and I noticed on the receipt the tech added fluid, matches the same part number as what I bought today. The color change in the container? I doubt it. Tech lied? Maybe mixed the pink into the orange? Going there tomorrow with the car and get to the bottom of it. If a flush is needed, what is the going rate for that service?

Did you get the car new? If you got it used, maybe the previous owner had the audi coolant flushed for something off the shelf. A co-worker of mine had his water pump done and his coolant is also orange. He mentioned that they flushed his system (regular auto shop) and used a general, all makes, all models coolant.

If it was in my garage, I'd toss in a bottle of BG Coolant flush and drive around a few minutes till warmed up. I'd go home and drain the system. I'd vacuum fill with a couple gallons of distilled water and another bottle of flush. I'd drive around again, for 10-15 min or so. Id drain the system. I would add a bottle of BG Super Cool to the reservoir, then vacuum fill with Pentofrost E and distilled water 50/50 mix.

Done and done in an hour. $150 out the door

What do you mean by vacuum flush and vacuum fill? Special equipment needed?

the coolant systems on these cars are terrible to bleed out all teh air.
not only does the vacuum tool suck out any old coolant (After draining), but it refills using venturi vacuum, which eliminates air pockets.

you'll need the item in the link and a compressor

I picked up a used Cornwell vacuum filler pretty cheap on eBay. You can find cheap ($30-$50) ones new on their too.

Mine doesn't draw old fluid out though. Once system is drained, it just removes air so fresh fluid can be drawn in.

That's an example of the tool I have....
