    Audi Tradition.

With the new publicity of the RS6 Avant, Audi always tends to use their 'heritage' models to show the progress and importance of the brand. This latest video with the RS6 Release showing the Fox, then RS2, S6+, C4, B5 RS4, ect...

It feels disingenuous to me that the heritage/vintage models are used to promote the brand when support of these cars is not offered. Beyond that, the one part of Audi that is trying to keep parts available, Audi Tradition, has been blocked/barred from selling parts to the USA, by Audi of America. So not only does AoA not support it, but they hinder our ability to even get the parts.

    Why?

Audi tradition says that AoA has exclusive sales rights of parts to the USA, and they have to operate under their instruction. I've been told that local dealers should be able to order through Audi Tradition, but this has not be instructed or explained, or offered to local dealers. I have a good friend in my local parts department who has owned vintage models and has tried several times/ways to get parts for me to no avail.

I had to convert my entire 1983 Quattro to later b3 subframes and driveline because i couldn't get a simple ball joint that would pass local safety inspections. I can't get a windshield for it, or for my 1991 Audi Coupe Quattro.

Will there be any plans to take care of those of us who like history but still want to actually use and drive them?

    Hello Ruffiano,

Thanks for bringing some light to this topic, as I know that others have experienced similar difficulties with ordering parts for older modeled vehicles or having to jump through multiple hoops. You are correct, the Audi Tradition program does exist and functions through the certified network of Audi dealers for folks to be able to order parts. There can be some difficulties as usually the parts are all coming from Germany and they can be a little bit difficult to procure depending on the rarity of the part. However support for the Audi Tradition program is backed by AoA. My request is that you let me know specifically which parts you are looking for and which dealer you have been working with, as I can then reach out internally to get the ball moving.

I understand where you're coming from, as on the one hand it's exciting to see some of these older cars featured in the spots and commercials but on the other very aggravating when you're having trouble getting something relatively simple like a ball joint in order for your car to pass inspection. It's an area that we have identified as an opportunity for the brand overall, but in regard to specifics I do not have much info to share on a revamped process. I hope that this helps clarify, but if you do have questions you know where to find me.

    Thank you,
    Vincenzo F.

PM me with all of the details including which Audi dealer you work with, VIN, etc. We can check to see if that's a possibility!

    Thanks,
    Vincenzo F.

How did this end up working?

I need tons of parts - and it’s just become a markup game from guys in Europe who are gouging US buyers

There's an app named "Audi Tradition" that contains a section for buying vintage parts directly from Audi. I've never used it for parts, so don't know what is available, prices, etc.

I just tried to get someone in Canada to order a part for me and the shipping was going to be 10X the part cost according to the audi tradition website...

The parts support for classic Audis is abysmal compared to Porsche, BMW and Mercedes.
