    Exhaust Options for RS7 Performance

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey I'm new to the forum. Just bought a 2018 Performance RS7. Looking at some exhaust options don't see much out there other than Milltek and Akrapovic. I love the Milltek sound but what else is out there?

Car is a DAILY DRIVER and we bought it for transporting our newborn that's coming early 2020. Does Milltek have valved setup and how much louder is it than stock? I'm coming from a GT-R, multiple Corvettes, and still own a Gen 2 R8 V10 Plus with Larini exhaust so my wife and I like loud but will want a little "quiet" here and there when the kiddo is on board.

    EDIT: Pics for your enjoyment..

Akrapovic is the easy choice, fairly quiet until you open up the throttle or go into sport mode it’s perfect.

From the YouTube clips i've looked at the Milltek sounded "better" to both of us. Is that one valved??? Seems it can be had for $2500 whereas the Akropovic is significantly more expensive.

Good choice on cars sir! I have the same, except both mine are older than yours.

I just had the full APR exhaust with mid-muffler fitted to my RS7 to go with their downpipes, I found it a little boomy at very low revs on a light throttle but otherwise it sounded awesome. VERY loud, but awesome. The downpipes made it significant louder I wouldn’t advise going without the mid-muffler but exhaust sound is very much personal preference.

I actually had their new X-pipe fitted today too (so now it’s a 3” turbo back system) and was amazed how much it toned down the volume, never would have guessed an X-pipe would make so much difference. Anyway to my ear it sounds absolutely perfect now, boominess gone, no drone, still very aggressive with valves open but pretty much stock sounding with them closed (wife friendly mode). Very happy with the results, my exhaust guy commented on how great the fitment the whole system was too. If soninwouodnsusoedrnrje you want more volume you can order it without the mid😄muffler, but whichever option you choose I highly recommend it if you’re looking for something between the Miltek and the Akropovic (which is also 3-4x the money).

Thanks but for me there's no "wife friendly" setup. Right off the bat she thinks stock is way too quiet she wants it loud. I love my wife.

    Hi,

I`ve tried a few different set ups so heres my views.

If stock / stage 1 either go APR Cat Back with/without Centre Muffler

Milltek Non Res used to be best pound for pound mod on a stock/stage 1 car but i think the APR Cat Back now just puts the Milltek to the side.

Milltek is metallic and tinny and not of the best quality - picking up a used one would be a very cheap worthwhile mod

APR is deeper and more exotic, plus quality is second to none - try res and non res version

Akrapovic - very expensive to buy new buy a good buy 2ns hand if you can find one. Personally I prefer the APR system over the Akra.
    Cheers,

i love my milltek non-res exhaust.
    it is valved.

with MMI engine/trans and engine sound set to comfort, its how a proper v8 should sound from the factory. my wife never complains with this setting.
With MMI engine trans set to comfort and engine sound set to dynamic, its the perfect sound for a daily driver who is a car enthusiast.
with MMI set to dynamic everything, its how a performance car should sound. the pops and bangs are much more pronounced, almost a little loud for my taste...but on the occasional spirited drive, its a nice touch.

I was in your exact same boat (kid on the way, lots of sports cars in the past, wife loves fast/loud cars, etc).

We got the Milltek non res and couldn't be happier.

Also, please search. This has been covered to death.
