Looking for a long-life tire. Found a few threads from a couple years ago that mention these tires, so I figure there are probably a few people who have worn through a set and could tell me about how many miles you've gotten out of them? They've come up recommended in a couple of searches for "long-life" tires for our cars (heavy air quotes....I know nothing in this category is going to last longer than a year or so).

    Opinions?

I run Nitto Motivo tires on my Acura. 60k mile warranty. No idea how they'd feel on the Audi, but they're fine on the Acura.

I have almost 30k miles on these Yokos with plenty of tread remaining. Been good tires for tire wear, dry handling, comfort, and low noise, but not happy with wet traction and hydroplaning. I would not buy them again because of this as I almost lost it a couple of times under "non-aggressive" wet driving conditions. Yes, I think they come with a very good tread life warranty.

Same. No reason to go anything but Michelin these days.

Ran them on my Mazdaspeed 3 but can't remember how many miles I put on them. I must've had the tires on it for at least 3 years and still had a lot of tread when I sold the car. I was happy enough with it that we put the same tires on our A3 and they're going on 2 years. Treadwear is looking good again. I've not experienced any issues with these tires in the rain. I would buy these again.

Replaced the OEM tires with these Yoko's at the 22k mark. Put 35K miles on them before cupping caused me to replace. Wasn't overly impressed with wet traction handling, and towards the end the highway drone was more than just noticeable. If long-life is major concern, considering price you can't go wrong with the Advan A/S's … but there are a few compromises (especially when compared to something like the Michelins which I now run).

I'm running Sumitomo's with the exact same ratings as Pilot Sport 4S for $100 less.

I know you balked at wanting to pay a lot for rubber in your other thread but the Michelins and Continentals are tops in tirerack tests particularly winter where you are. Safety and an accident is a fine line of traction.

In what sense? I can get pilot sport 4s installed on my car for the same price as my current Yokos and they are a far superior tire in every sense. The only reason I didn’t get them was my tires were shot between the discontinuation of the super sports and the 4s becoming available - unfortunate timing on my part. If your main concern is cost and tread life on an RS car then buy all season Contis, but for a dedicated summer tire there is no better tire than the Michelin.

On a $100,000 car where most guys don’t blink spending $2000 on ecodes and more than that on useless CF bits, even if you have to pay a $100 premium at each corner it would be hard to argue with spending that to get the best of a functional and important component.

I've got the Sumis on right now. About 20K on them and completely bald, same as when I had them on the wife's MB. I loved them initially but not when I'm getting less than a year out of them.

I've only got 5000 miles on them so far, so we'll see.
