    B8 S4 Clutch Replacement Cost

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello! I've got a stage 2 dual pulley APR 2012 B8 S4... I noticed the clutch pedal will vibrate fairly significantly at cost to 5k - 6k RPMs so I figured the throwout bearing was done for. Right now the cars clutch is 100% stock... 64k miles on the car.

I took it to a shop to get replaced and they were recommending I additionally upgrade to a stage 2 clutch (southbend), add a new flywheel, and a new crankshaft seal.

Total out the door cost for all parts and labor I was quoted at $4,800 - is this reasonable? The shop I'm at seems very reputable and I've worked with them before... But I figured for a $4k+ repair I should get some more opinions.
    Thanks for any input!

I paid about that for my south bend stage 3 clutch and install. Don’t remember the exact cost but it was in the ballpark of what your were quoted

That seems high to me. I was quoted about $2,700 for parts+labor for the Sachs Xtend clutch and Luk flywheel. So, unless the rear main seal costs $2,000 or their labor rate is $250/hr I suggest you get another quote just for sanity purposes.

Just got the JHM R series I have driven several clutches southbend, jhm b7 rs4, clutchmasters (stay away from CM)... and few more cant think or atm and in all my experience the JHM kits are the best way to go if your modded otherwise might well stick to OE. You get what you pay for.

Same for me, Sachs Xtend clutch and Luk flywheel @ 49k miles.

$1400 labor (I did diff, sport diff and tranny fluid too), $1200 in parts.

Note: I spent $200 in bolts, I ordered and replaced every single bolt removed. OCD...

JHM charged me around $1,200 in labor to install their 3R clutch, flywheel and clutch line. At the time the 3R/flywheel was $2,750

I just got quoted $5,800 to replace the clutch and flywheel on my 2010 S5, that seems $2k out of line.

Can anyone recommend a good shop in Connecticut / Rhode Island where you’ve had quality work done?

    several factors...

    Parts you pick
Parts markup $ if you can't bring your own parts
    Labor rate
How long it takes a mechanic to do it versus book time

I'm not surprised by any of these quotes.

Might be worth a trip to N.H., Sam’s Euro in Bow quoted me $900 in labor and $1950 for SB stage 2 w/ECS lightweight flywheel.
