Mexico Blau - The Pacific German RS5

Hey Audizine! We have recently picked up an RS5 Coupe in Audi Exclusive Mexico Blue! This is a thread to document all of the enhancements that we have planned for the car. We are super excited for this build, as it is our third RS5! We had a 2013 and 2014 B8.5 both in Misano Red, and decided to change the color up this time

With already having a B9 A4 that is fully loaded with upgrades, and a B9 S4-Allroad conversion, we decided that it was time to get our hands on the 2.9 twin turbo RS5 in anticipation with the upcoming tuning software now that these engine computers have been cracked!

That car looks very nice in-person...it was in the showroom at Walter's Audi when I purchased my RS5 Sportback in May. Congrats and looking forward to the build!

Some easy things to start with while we wait for the upgrades in the mail!

Amber delete asap! We busted out the handy laptop and VCDS to disable the amber side marker bulb with DRLs on. Here is a before and after shot.




Next step was a black out kit! The chrome badging just doesn't work on the Mexico Blue with black optics. OEM parts do the job! Peep the color matched license plate frame




And finally the first upgrade on the list! Lowering! Our friends at ABT over nighted a set of height adjustable springs to us. These will go on asap with wheel spacers and an alignment until the new wheels arrive.

Well with the upgrades arriving the shop it was time to dig into the RS5. Here is a quick shot of the engine before we get started. Check out that weak fitment. We definitely need to do something about this. Before measurements on the ride height is 27" front and 27.25" rear.








Right when we had the car racked up, new goodies arrived! Here are some teaser shots:






But then I decided to load up the parts cannon and throw everything at it!

Just kidding. We had the full 034 Motorsports suspension lineup in stock, and with the car disassembled for ABT height adjustable springs, it only made sense to get some more goodies on it.

As a stock car, the RS5 leaves some to be desired. Its a great car and the power delivery is pretty smooth, though its pretty quiet and lacks some soul that the V8s had. However, the biggest fault we've found is the DRC suspension. Its either too stiff in Dynamic or too wallowy in Comfort mode. Time to change that













You can't go wrong with the 034 Motorsports stuff. After putting together our Allroad S4 swap and countless customer cars so far, it was an obvious decision to put the best parts on the car. Since this car will spend some time on the track and canyons with our local Audi clubs, this is the first step of dialing it in!

And now onto the Hunter Hawkeye alignment machine for a preliminary alignment to get through the weekend. Once tires show up for the HRE's and mounted to the car next week, this will get corner balanced. For now, 15mm H&R wheel spacers worked out just fine.




We are currently at 26" front and 26.25" rear for a nice drop!

Right after we picked this car up, our friends at Brembo USA wanted to borrow the car and measure for brake fitment. Instead of just a caliper upgrade we opted to go "all in" with a full brake kit. Brembo BM-6 monoblock calipers (6 piston) to go along with massive 2 piece 402mm discs. Clearance has been verified under the stock wheels. We are waiting for the brackets to be machined but should have our hands on them next week sometime. For now, here are some shots of the calipers freshly painted in Mexico Blue:

I do not believe a rear kit is in the works as we'd lose the motorized parking brake. There was a kit done for the B8 S4/S5 years back but it lost brake and wasn't popular.

So much stuff has gone onto this car in the past week or so, and we've been busy at the shop with other cars preparing for the Big Socal Euro event with our cars and client cars.
