Second brake performance. I’d also check rock auto, found some deals there before as well for previous cars.

I got my S6 brakes at Brake Performance a few weeks ago, they do have them for the A6 too, all sizes. Ended up paying under $700 or so for all 4 rotors, slotted/dimpled, with ceramic pads, and all mounting equipment. Had them on only a few hundred miles so far, so cannot judge long term quality, but so far, performance has been great, zero noise, and almost zero brake dust.

If my brakes are broken then I take a break before buying new brakes because they might break and I don't want to break any bones due to poor brakes. Whew! I need a break....or is it brake...
    Damn that iPhone spell in-correction.

Seriously though sometimes the dealer can surprise you as far as pricing on rotors. Since there is truly only one aftermarket rotor (for S7) from brake performance and it is a one piece all steel rotor no upgrade really in getting anything other than OE unless you like the aesthetic appeal of holes or slots machined into stock rotors.
Pads can be bought nearly anywhere. Believe it or not Wearever Gold from Advance Auto is ridiculously cheap ($60 front), stops same as stock (S6) (semi-metallic) and dusts less. Just the QC or packing and shipping are poor as the damping weights frequently arrive broken.

For my A7 I bought the front pads at Advanced Auto Parts. Like $50 for their mid grade pad and they grab better than OEM. The wear sensor is only $10-15 from them as well. The 356 front solid rotor is $90 from them. Shop online and save 25% I believe.

FWIW I don't know about other sites but FCPEuro.com has lifetime replacement on all of their parts, even parts that wear out like brake pads and rotors. Some places require you to give the worn out part first before they will replace it. At FCP you buy the new part and when you swap it out you return the work part back to FCP and they refund your money from the previous purchase. All in all your basically only out cost of labor if you dont DIY. I bought my Akebono Euro ceramic pads and wheel bearing from them. If you have the OEM semi-metallic pads I cannot recommend switching to ceramic pads more. My wheels would be coated in brake dust by the end of the week, but now it's been 2 months with multiple long trips and my wheels look nearly as clean as when I last washed them.

+1 for Akebono Euro ceramic pads as well. Put them on 3 months ago and haven't had to clean brake dust since. Mine also came with a brake wear sensor also.

$2000 CDN for complete brake job? or just parts?
    Front rotors $560 USD
    Front Pads $200 USD
    Rear Rotors $400 USD
    Rear pads etc. $120 USD
Should be around $1700CDN in parts...$300CDN labor would be a bargain.

My dealer wanted $1900 to do just the FRONT brakes. Rotors/Pads and they claimed the installation kit and parts were like $300 each. With labor I ended up paying around $850 (US) for all 4 wheels with rotors and ceramic pads without the insane OEM brake dust.

Right...I forgot about the lousy front shims for $250 USD
and the dealer markup $80 wear sensor which is the truly ridiculous part.

But $1900 CAD is only $1450 US which is not bad just getting the OE parts and DIY is like $1100-1200 US. 2 hours labor is not unreasonable.

Well my parents just did the front brakes today on their Lexus sedan, and with 2 hours of labour @ $150/hr it still only cost them $790 + tax. This was all OEM parts at the dealership.

I'm fully aware the brakes aren't quite as big or as complex as they are in our cars but still, the difference in price is huge. I'd love to have an extra $1100 in my pocket.

It’s all relative. You’re quoted $1900 CAD for a job you can DIY with OE rotors, aftermarket pads and sensor and reusing shims for like $850 CAD. I’m not sure which Toyota was worked on but front pads and rotors should have been no more than $200 CAD it is a massively mass produced vehicle. The S6/7/8 are the only models that take the 400mm rotors which is the bulk of the cost beyond stupid sensor markups and expensive labor fees. All I’m saying is the price you were quoted from the dealership is reasonable for OE parts and dealership labor for an exclusive German car. Compared to marxgz quote of $2000 CAD for just parts. It’s not reasonable in general since it SHOULD be cheaper as shown by the DIY aftermarket prices but such is life in the high performance German world if you must pay dealers to do the work.

I mean, I'm referring to the same 356mm rotors (and engine) as marxgz's A7 as I have the A6 3.0T.

At the end of the day the rotors are still just relatively simple hunks of stainless steel based off the same vented disc brake design many cars have been using for decades. They're not even that high performance, just larger versions of the ones an average car will have.
You could say other car manufacturers are cheaper because they're mass produced but aftermarket parts are less mass produced by default and are still more than twice as cheap. For these reasons I don't think it's THAT reasonable to charge such high markups!

I think they charge us these prices simply because they can. Luxury sedan owners obviously have deeper pockets and well, you can definitely get people to pay when they need parts and you're also the only supplier of said parts...

My bad I misread the first post I thought OP had S7 listed...since I have same brakes (S6) I was focused in on that. The S use a 400mm two piece pinned aluminum hat curved vein rotor only made by one manufacturer.
Yup, for an A7 you are both getting ripped.

    A7 dealer parts price list:
    Front rotors ($520 $440) ($685 $580 CAD)
    Front pads ($160 $135) ($210 $175 CAD)
So even at MSRP it should only be $895 CAD for parts. (Leaving out the ridiculous $100 CAD sensor wire) So they are more than doubling the list price!!! That is shady. Can you buy from US and drive across the border?
Aftermarket you can get the parts for $350 CAD. I think maybe we have a different definition of aftermarket. I mean any brakes you can get from any local parts store which are 100% mass produced. I think you might mean bespoke brakes from a tuner.
    Cheers.

When I did mine, I went aftermarket and ordered my stuff from the states. Coated zimmerman rotors and Akebono euro ceramic pads. Even with duties + currency conversion + shipping, the parts ended up being cheaper than the same aftermarket products from local stores which is interesting. RockAuto is a fantastic site and very competitive prices IMO

    Cheers.
You know i have a post before for a service on 85000km Job. My dealer quote me at over $1200CAD for the service. But i went off to the US audi dealer. Guess waht. They only charge $600US on the same service......so....u can see how Canadian dealer rapping us off.....
