Straight pipe in this car drones a lot actually. I have a 2015 2.0T Quattro. I have had a couple A4's and some of them had straight pipe (same motor), and it's way too loud and annoying. Also it doesn't really sound that great.
Full turbo-backs or even just cat backs sound the best with this motor. You need some kind of resonance to get the ideal sound you're looking for.

Beyond the drone, it's just not a good note. 4 cylinders just aren't the car to straight pipe. I'm non cat DP & res delete and feel it's obnoxious, I cannot imagine ridding of the mufflers. My buddy is also on a 4 banger A4 straight piped and it's horrendous man. To each their own, but I just don't think it's enjoyable from drone or how much of a fart can it'll sound like.

Just find a less restrictive muffler and you'll be satisfied. Coming from the dude who has swapped exhausts on this platform prob more than anybody lol. I've gone open downpipe stock/3.5" CTS, res/no res, milltek catback stock dp/catless dp, pie cut dual straight pipe made by me, and about to try out a flowmaster 40 with my pie cuts.

Do you have any sound clips of any of the exhausts? I'd love to hear them. I'm currently about to throw a catless DP on mine and after watching some videos I'm worried about the sound. Loud isn't a problem with me coming from loud subarus but some videos seem to show the car sounding extremely raspy even with the stock exhaust.

Why not go with a cutout before the mufflers. You can be loud when you want and then quiet it down when you need to?

Unitronic's systems are really high quality and anti drone. The more you open this up the more drone you are gonna hear as these are small 2.0L and do not sound great running a more straight pipe setup
