Setting up Audi Rings LED in grill...

SO I'm helping a kid in Boston with the Audi rings... when we tap into the parking lights wiring... the lights come on for about 4secs and flickers really quickly and then turns off... If i hook it up to direct 12v light, it will stay on with no issue. is there another way to install these lights? I'm assuming the car is killing this draw of volts and it's the reason why the lights will not stay on. Any advice on what i can hook these light too? FYI we are dealing with the LED head lights.

What are you installing exatcly? What are “audi rings”. You got a picture for reference?

You will need some resistors with the correct ohm. I was a little rusty ohms law, but Google has a great calculator. I was tapping into the doors lights on a project and had the same issues. Screenshot_20190726-080023_Private%20Browser.jpeg

I connected my rings to the fog lights. So when I turn on my fog light which are LEDs now and same color, my rings come on also. So I have a choice and not just constantly when the headlights are on..PIC_MAIL_ATTACHMENT_1562260346617.jpeg

Saw an S4 with lighted rings Monday night after taking our daughter to see Toy Story 4......... my wife and I both thought it was tacky looking. Pretty sure that MB started the idea, it looks tacky on them too. No offense to anyone who does it or likes it, just not my thing.

Can’t this be hardwired to a fuse that is “on” only when the car is on? Or are you trying to set it up with a manual switch inside the cabin?

I got rid of them since they started having issues. Then someone hit me during the pandemic. But got a 2017 A6 s line to replace it. Not getting lighted again unless they're factory.

i tend to agreed with this, there is a way to say " ya that's just not for me" or don't say anything. I have seen on this Forum a bunch of people talk crap about what others like who cares you don't drive it so shut up. I remember a guy who de-badged whole car (i personally wouldn't but looked good) everyone was okay with it....then he posted how he replaced them all with vinyl stickers......dear god gates of hell opened up on him. to me looked very tacky and cheap and took away from car but the behind the keyboard tough guys and babies came out on droves....I told him i didn't like it and not for me but to do his thing it's his car no one elses....he was asking what people thought. Again there is a way to say something and to be honest Audirob53 didn't ask what you thought about it . I don't care if he had bubbles coming out his exhaust...in my head i'd say "Man that's stupid" but that my thought he doesn't need or does he care to hear it.

Like I said when this thread started 2 years ago... the 4 rings will be lit on future e-Tron offerings.

The ubiquitous LED DRLs aren't special anymore.

Very well said, a lot of people don't have that type of common sense. Usually, like always they run up on the wrong person and say the wrong things and wonder why things hit them from out of nowhere. Like someone going thru a red light and totals you out... Some call it Karma, others call it what goes around will come back around. So watch what you speak because there is power in your words. IJS

Whoa! There is another recent AZ thread where people are adamant that A6/S6/RS7 do not have OEM fog lights. It's supposedly either ACC radar or nothing. Did you install the fog light housings or just change the bulbs to LED? What year/model was it?

That looks suspiciously like a B8 A4 to me, they had round factory fogs as an option and that LED pattern in the headlights. B8.5 went to a trapezoid factory fog.

I have seen several new VW cars with the badge lit up. I think it is factory.
