i dismantled everything before running that service cycle like a cotton headed ninny muggins. i’m ready to reinstall and not sure of how to correct my error. i’ve read a good amount and some people are talking about having to rebuild the calipers

There’s a tool you can rent that will attach to the piston, then twist the piston down into open position

Yes, that's usually not a good scenario but....you already know that. How did you get the caliper off to start with? Since prior to service, the EPB needs to be retracted either electronically or by applying voltage directly to the EPB solenoid. If you took it apart without doing either, I have no idea how to get it back to normal without replacing EPB module.

This video may be able to help you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34G3qDPNldE. Looks like there's a set screw you can manually manipulate on the EPB

This is certainly not the recommended way to do things, so do what you think is best given the risks.

    Good luck!

i know it was a dipstick move. i am thinking about reinstalling with one pad on the piston side since two fresh new pads would be too thick, then cycling the EPB. shouldn’t throw a fault then, correct?

From his post, I guess I was under the impression the OP had somehow already removed the EPB and was trying to get it back on. Would this work if that were the case?

That is good to hear! It could have been a costly disaster.
