    Paint for bumper/cladding?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I want to respray the bottom of my Allroads bumper.

It’s the matte gray color. Does anyone know what the color code is for this or where to find it so I can order a rattle can of it?

Paint codes are usually in the spare tire area; should be a tag on there. Might be a couple different codes.

Or... ask the dealership by providing your VIN.

The lower bumper cover comes in black, gray, or primed.
    https://parts.audiusa.com/a/Audi_201...6/1390900.html
Do you think the gray is paint or the actual plastic molding color? It's hard to tell from the micro pics ECS has.
    https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-.../8k98074341rr/
It's unlikely to have an exterior color "paint code". 1RR is the color code for gray for that part, but I don't know if that's the same as a "paint code".

    https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...rim-Paint-Code
Last post notes that Monsoon Gray two-tone uses the darker ("black") trim rather than the lighter ("gray") trim. So maybe V7W is what you are looking for.

But maybe I misunderstand. Are you looking for the color code for your Monsoon Gray to paint the bumper the same, or are you looking for a code for the gray that is the lower bumper? Monsoon Gray metallic on the A4 allroad is 0C0C.

The color to match the lower part of the front bumper. The fender color...it’s all the same matte gray. That’s the color code I’m looking for.

GRU is primed, 1RR is (light) gray, V7W is black (dark gray?). Audi sells all three for the rear lower bumper, sells gray and black for the wheel flares, and apparently only primed for the front.
The part you referenced is the actual front bumper cover, so that it's only in primed should be expected.
But I find it curious that the lower outer front bumper sections (8K0807065 and 066) seem to also be only in GRU, and not in 1RR and V7W like the rest of all the allroad cladding.

I guess that's the question you are asking? What's the paint used on these GRU lower front bumper parts to make it look the 1RR gray or V7W black on the rest of the cladding?

The reference posted already implies LV7W/7F, but not sure if that's for the gray or black. But I'm uncertain if that's for the B8 A4 allroad or the old A6 allroad.
Another reference says it should be the second paint code on your PR sticker, as another has alluded to.
If nothing else, just email AoA. They should be able to tell you.

The paint is called Soul Matt, code LV7W (a dealer in the UK gave me the code for my 2012 Allroad). You can order from most car paint stores. You may also want a primer as well.

Interesting. I wonder what the L means, but it seems the paint code and the part number color code are related.

    V7W parts, LV7W paint, https://www.paintscratch.com/touch_u...r-LV7W-7F.html
    1RR parts, and there is a L1RR paint, https://www.paintscratch.com/touch_u...mper-L1RR.html

Wonder why Audi calls V7W black when it seems very much dark gray, vs 1RR light gray.
Not sure why the 7F modifier or whatever the following two character code is called.

I think the L1RR paint (Platinum Gray) is a lighter gray for the grill - somehow, the words "bumper" and "grill" seems to have got mixed up.

I've used the LV7W on the wheelarch cladding of my 2012 Allroad - it matches very well.

edit - replaced the links, that were not the ones I thought, with pics and more direct dialog.

Not all the exterior colors for the B8 A4 allroad used the same cladding color. Lighter colors used the contrasting black (dark gray) cladding V7W, and darker colors used use the (light) gray cladding 1RR. https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...ladding-colors

Seems they did away with that for the B9 A4 allroad, so I can't say go do the online configurator and you'd see what I mean. The B9 all show the same color in the configurator, but it nearly looks black. The pre-painted cladding only use one color code also, MX3. But it doesn't look nearly that dark, though Audi calls it cooler gray also. https://www.paintscratch.com/touch_u...ray--LMX3.html

Oddly, neither the order guide nor brochure seem to detail the topic at all. Moonlight blue, my pick, had the lighter cladding, while white came with nearly black cladding (or maybe white came with differing color by year, 2013, looks very light gray to me, https://www.truecar.com/used-cars-fo...-audi-allroad/).

Here, the 2014 moonlight blue with lighter cladding 1RR, https://www.truecar.com/used-cars-fo...-audi-allroad/
Here, the 2014 gray with darker cladding V7W, https://www.truecar.com/used-cars-fo...-audi-allroad/
It just says gray, not which of the three grays. But I suspect all three came with the near black cladding for contrast purposes.

That is good info - didn't realise that there were different shades of gray cladding.

You are correct. This is the same color bumper cladding color for my 2016 monsoon gray Allroad. This info took me almost a year and 3 tries to get the right color. Even the dealership didn't have a code! Vehicle: 2014 (mine is a 2016) Audi Allroad Paint: Dark Gray (also Allroad Bumper) LV7W/7F. I ordered from PaintScratch.com

Does anyone know where to get good touchup paint for the b8 grills? I have a few rock chips that have left black marks (showing the bare plastic underneath) in my grill and license plate cover. I'm not sure if I need platinum grey or stone grey. Anyone have tips?

This is the part along with the grill that has chips: https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_A4...rch/8K0807287/
