What’s up everyone. I decided to convert my S4 to rear wheel drive to see how it was. I will be concerting back to AWD so I’m for sure not keeping it rear wheel drive. It’s been fun so far and I have some more videos to make. This is the video I made on how I converted it to rear wheel drive.

OK- now that looks like FUN! Nice job....
How long do you think those rear axles will last carrying ALL of the torque and HP of your built motor??
It would be interesting to see this setup on a road course---the difference between an under-steering platform to one that can induce lots of power over-steer.
PS- I think you're going to need wider rear tires
    Good job --THANKS for sharing!

It is. No traction in 1st or 2nd once boost hits. Thanks LSJ. There have been some people that have run RWD on an S4 or A4 and so far the rear axles can handle some good power. I think if there was traction due to sticky tires the axles would snap like twigs.

Definitely looks fun and cool, the only thing that would drive me up the wall is the wonky speedo reeding due to the front open diff.

Sometimes the reading drops out because the driver side axle shaft/cup stops or slows spinning due to the open diff.

I bet most won’t remember or think to put outer joints on the front to hold the hubs in place. Definitely a good video and looking forward to the new content with it.

Dalazybastard I agree with you. The speedo does irritate me but I know it is what it is. It they don’t put them in they won’t make it to far down the road and the bearings will shit the bed.

Really enjoyed the video and some quick pulls on Instagram, AWD is such an advantage for acceleration especially on higher HP builds but makes it almost too undramatic sometimes (IMO). Even if temporary RWD looks like such a blast!

So based on this video, one can expect to convert their car to RWD in a little over 14 minutes? Impressive! :)

I have driven a RWD S4 before, it was super strange. Not sure the differences in how it was done mechanically, but all I remember was when taking a tight turn you'd get awkward wheel hop or chirping going on since the diff wasn't allowing the inner wheel to slow down. Is that how yours is too setup like this or is this a "better" way to do it if someone really wanted this?
