Front anti-rattle clips and brake pads

Hi all! I pulled off my front passenger wheel today and noticed that the anti-rattle clip is no longer there (it is still in place on the driver's side). Unfortunately, neither is the bracket from the back of the brake pad (see attached photo of caliper with me holding the new pad next to it).

There are less than 30,000 miles on the current pads, but the noise created by having this one loose without the anti-rattle clip is driving me nuts! Should I just bite the bullet and install my new pads (with brackets) and new anti-rattle clips, or is there a way to get a new bracket on that old brake pad, or secure the anti-rattle clip in there without the bracket on the brake pad?

    Thanks!

Can I ask what made you go look? Was it making a noise or a clunk or ? I’m getting a weird sound from time to time and think this is my issue too

With nearly 30,000 miles on the pads, I’d just go ahead and replace them. Brake pads don’t cost that much. OEM pads work best for me. I’ve used aftermarket pads before and they made too much noise.

It’s like a metal rattling noise. Just fixed this on my car. If one of them is missing it’ll make weird noises. Parts cheap and takes like 5 minutes to put in.

Bite the bullet I drove mine for a month without it and the rattle was driving me crazy , I replaced the calipers with the q5 calipers instead. Going to be a bit more work replacing the rotors next time

Thanks for the advice. In my case, the right side sounds like a metal maraca (lol!) when going over bumps, and I can visibly see that the anti-rattle clip isn't there anymore. I can also see on that side that the bracket on the back of the outer brake pad is missing, which would normally hold the anti-rattle clip in place (see my photo above of the new brake pad--with the correct bracket for the anti-rattle clip protruding--next to the currently installed one that is missing the bracket). I'm going to replace the front pads and rotors soon anyway, so that will take care of the issue. Hope this helps somebody else too.

    Best,
