    Stage 3 S3 vs Stage 2 RS3

Who would win? Pump vs pump? And on flex fuel? For the sake of arguement, an eqt turbo, dbv2 and apr s3 kit. Anyone with knowledge can dissect each turbo vs a stage 2 RS3.

They are all good, I have the eqt, on the stock housing I made 440 on 91 pump, the the dbv2 is a very good turbo, its laggy though, I'm not sure how the new tbb dbv2 will be on spool cause there aren't really any out yet, the eqt spools very good, I have the larger housing now and Im Positive I'm making over 500awhp right now on full e85, the efr is the better turbo out of all of them though I believe, it spools good and makes great power

So the "cheaper" options instead of the efr7163 APR turbo are not on APRs level one would say? Only Iroz is on par or better?

RS3 hands down! based on times posted from a user here with the APR stage 3 kit. RS3 will trap as high as 132-135ish on FBO e85 and as high as 124-126 on FBO 93 octane. Below are my times on E85 with only intake and intercooler with stock worn tires and heavy stock rims. Still need to get few more bolt ons to maximize power and higher traps. With full bolt ons on e85 Unitronic claims 621hp to the crank, dyno chart below as well. hope this helps!

Thanks for all that info. I think APR stage 3's are trapping 122-124 on pump. Man 600+ on a stock turbo is insane. Such a great car

How are they not close? APR stage 3s trap 122-124 on pump. Isn't that on par with a stage 2 RS3?

I’ve seen RS3 run 125-127 stage 2 on 93 pump. On e85 forget it. There is more too it too than just peak numbers as well. Also that kit puts too much strain on engine and tranny, at that price point i just decided to buy the RS3.

Ps: iirc the guy in the video blew either his tranny or engine.

    For comparison:

RS3 STAGE 2 with no intake or inlet running old software. And look at the times.

And here is the S3 stage III:

A local S3 ran 11.3@124 (TTE 525 turbokit with all the bolt ons), I run 11.2@125 with head wind and just a stage 1 on my RS3(nothing else, no air filter, no intercooler, no exhaust, no downpipe).

I guess it depends on what turbokit stage 3 you put on the S3. Iroz has some turbokits that runs 9 sec and 145 mph on the Golf R/S3.

8Y RS3 k&N filter ran [email protected] (ran 11.6 5 times and trapped 120+ several times)

My S3 on the street full weight via dragy does 11.2@127 with a horrible 60' on the eqt, granted I'm full bolt ons, mpi and e85

I’m so sick of threads like this...why? Just buy the RS3. Do you even know the difference between an S a RS?
What do you think would win? A Boeing 787 or a 777?

I can care less about people's opinions who put their badges and driver assistance in their signature.

Eta: Instead of being sick of "threads" like this, how about opening a topic of discussion that is interesting. Want us to all talk about your nappa? Since it is in your sig? What about your dynamic package? I bet this gets your senses going huh

Actually, people ask so it helps. Just buy the RS3 man and be happy...

My best time to date on a PREFL Rs3 is 11.06@126mph, Stage 2 hardware, stock turbo obviously.

This is the iron block 370hp model.

There is Stage 3 golf R's/S3 that are faster than this, and there is ones slower. "Stage 3" is a pretty wide performance envelope for a ea888 engine

RS3 for sure, and I say that as a current S3 owner. Not a day goes by where I do not wish I had instead opt'd for the RS3, even after modding my S3. The power those things are making with little work is actually crazy.

As many have said here, also take into account the strain a Stage 3 kit will put on your engine, you're really pushing it to its limits. Beyond that, the only thing faster than the two is how fast these damn S3's depreciate. Definitely been a bit shocked to see that recently (I know I know, cars depreciate).

Good luck in your decision man!

Thanks for all the comments. I already have a 2015 S3. It is stock. I wanted to start the modding process. I guess i will give it to the wife next yr and opt for an RS3. S3 will stay stock. My Mitsubishi is faster than a stg 2 S3 so I will just end up wasting money trying to make my S3 as fast as my daily driver. Juice is not worth the squeeze.

Great choice, you won’t regret it. I’ve been watching tons of RS3 videos while I wait for my TTRS and the car is just ridiculous with a few mods. The RS3 is into the 9s on stock block and stock turbo, and is in the 8s with a complete build. I doubt any S3s can compare, but I could definitely be wrong about that.
