Given that both Audi has admitted that they have a software bug in the MMI (see above) causing the issue AND it happens on Android devices as well, you are incorrect in your assertion that it is an Apple problem.

It happens to me only when my iPhone plugged in, if it’s on Bluetooth no problem at all

I had a 2018 tt rs never had this problem and my 2019 it only happens when the iPhone actually plugged in, so I can rule out apple because I have a Samsung galaxy note 10 which I uses as well with no issues

iOS 13 is a big interface upgrade for Carplay. Looks much nicer on the TTRS and my Q5. Of course, the blank screen problem continues... lol

I’m curious to know what you’re seeing that I’m not? I noticed almost no change at all in the TTRS after upgrading my iOS. The only thing I noticed is now the corners of the CarPlay screen are rounded and the “home” button went from a circle icon to a grid of squares. Other than that it might be slightly darker because I’m in dark mode, but that’s about all I noticed.

The problem happens while using CarPlay, or the android variant; You can’t use those through Bluetooth.

Other people are experiencing the same issue with android phones as well, this is an Audi MMI software issue.

Have we seen any progress on this issue? I have an iPhone 11 pro and it happened three times in 15 minutes. The only way to get it back is to stop and flip the parking assist on and off. On a long drive this is not possible.

The last update we heard is that Audi is "working on it".
I have corroboration on that from a contact at Google who is also talking to Audi about the issue.

Most auto manufacturers are still in the "we'll fix it next model year" or "we'll fix it when forced" about their software. That makes sense for a valve or a fitting. It's anachronistic when it comes to software.

Totally agree!

Also I think that since the technology is moving so fast, they should go with topo of the line electric hardware components in order to keep the fast pace of out coming cellphones... if connect my daughter’s iPhone 6 or my other daughter’s iPhone 6 they work like a charm.

I’m surprised this isn’t being handled by Audi better considering this issue is present in more than just this car and it’s software, it needs to be updated regardless.

I've had the Waze screen go blank while using Android Auto.
Can still hear the Waze warnings and directions, just no image.

Just confirmed with my service tech, this TSB code provide by McTTRS above should be all you need.

One question, how long did it take to update the software? My tech has not done this repair yet so he did not know how long it would take it and suggested I drop off the car and get a loner.

It is done via an SD card and should not take long. I am just going to wait.

I dropped mine off on Saturday and the dealer turned it around in a few hours. So far (cross fingers) it's working. Hopefully they didn't break something else in the process. I also complained to Audi customer care and got a partial refund for the tech package, given the 13 months of it not working.

Interesting, so my question now is, what did you pay for your car? I was able to get 6% off MSRP, so I’m wondering if that’s a factor before I make this request as well. Any pointers on getting them to agree to this? Thanks!

I don't think what you paid will matter much. I said I paid for a 2800 option and have not had use of the main feature I wanted from it for a year. Make the case, see what happens. I've been a multiple audi owner since 1999, so mention your time with the brand. It never hurts to ask.

this is so cool. I am taking mine in the first week in august... had to flash back to stock first. my unitronic software upgrade.... all done and ready for this code update... Thank you gents... so it just works. wonderful. about time... I will try for that partial refund good idea,

I had the TSB done but the car doesn't recognize the phone when I plug it in. It just says to plug it in or switch to connection manager.

Just spoke with Audi customer care and the woman said she never heard of anything like this before but told me she’d research it and get back to me.

After I get the TSB update applied and it fixes the problem, I was told to call back and they can request a good will partial refund for the year I didn’t get to use the feature.

Just waiting for my new seat cover to arrive from Germany before I bring my car in so they can do both things at the same time. Others have said it fixed it but I can’t say for sure at the moment whether or not it’ll fix it for me. Fingers crossed it works.

I would say it is an Audi MMI issue specific to the 8S MMI and not an Apple issue. I have 11 Pro Max on regular update cycle (no beta) and I have this issue all the time on my 2020 TTRS. With the same phone, I never have this issue on my 2019 RS5.

Got my update today but forgot my stupid usb so I haven’t gotten to confirm whether or not it works, but I’m confident it does. As an added bonus, the dealership took care of my missing panic button on my spare key. They said they replaced the key and I even had to wait for them to reprogram it, but it’s clearly still the same key as it’s scuffed up from me dropping it before. Either way, glad it’s fixed.
