2016 Audi S3 DSG Service Interval Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Can anyone point to Audi information regarding the DSG oil change interval for a 2016 S3? I just had an Audi Service guy say the Audi S3 doesn't require DSG oil changes, which doesn't make any sense from both an engineering perspective and the number of threads I've seen about when people change theirs.

On Audi's maintenance schedule, I see the A3 listed, but nothing regarding the S3.

From the "2016 Audi Maintenance Schedule - All Models" PDF online

Perform first at 35,000 miles and thereafter every 40,000 miles.
    • Continuously variable transmission (multitronic™) - Change ATF
    • Tiptronic gear box - Change ATF (Audi Q5 hybrid only)
    • DSG/S tronic - Change ATF oil and replace transmission filter element for clutch hydraulics (A3, TT, TTS, S4, S5,
    • S5 Cabriolet, RS 5, S6, S7, R8 Coupe, R8 Spyder only)

The S3 doesn't require dsg oil changes....

Don't use that dealership. I'd assume that most of the general A3 maintenance applies to the S3 as well. DEFINITELY make sure the DSG gets serviced.

    This:

Perform first at 35,000 miles and thereafter every 40,000 miles.

Change DSG oil and filter every 40,000. More is you race the car.

The Haldex motor filter/screen should be inspected and oil changed on a simular interval.

Just had my 35k service (have Audi Care), it includes DSG, but they fought me with Haldex (Borg Warner Clutch) service, supervisor saying it's not included with Audi Care.
After giving them a lot of crap, they just ended up doing it when they called me to pick up my car after the service without telling me beforehand, so unfortunately doubt they checked and cleaned the screen.

Show them this updated maintenance schedule from Audi USA: https://www.audiusa.com/content/dam/...e_9-7-2017.pdf
This one includes the S3 for DSG Transmission service as well as Haldex (Borg Warner Clutch)

They were confused on what a Haldex or Borg Warner Clutch was, so maybe you can just say AWD Clutch (yeah... I'm not going back to this dealer anymore).

Thanks for providing us with that pdf!!

My 15 S3 was at the dealership last year for Audi care 35k service which included the dsg fluid/filter. Turns out they missed the Haldex service at the 3 yr mark though..

I’ve been going in before mileage, so luckily a year later I’m still only at 33k on the odometer.

Looks like I’m going back to finish the deal ASAP!! Should have been done after 3 yrs which for me was 12/17:(

My A3 was at the dealership last week for my 35k service and I specifically asked about Haldex service. That was missed for me as well. I'm sure if it shits the bed, they'll happily blame me for not having done it and charge me full price for a replacement though!

I'm thinking about doing the Haldex service myself, it doesn't look terribly difficult. Do you think it's worth replacing the Haldex pump while I'm down there? I hear that's a common point of failure, and it seems that you can buy a new pump for $150, which doesn't sound too bad to me. Is that overkill?

i would say overkill but if youre servicing it yourself you can chalk the new pump up to not having to pay for servicing haha
2016 S3 UM ecu, tcu and haldex tuned. APR down pipe, Unitronic intercooler, dogbone insert, 034 turbo muffler delete and cts turbo inlet pipe.

Replacing parts before they actually fail is not a good practice...IMO.

The pump fails if its screen clogs.

The screen clogs if the Haldex clutch wears excessively.

The pump is controlled by a controller on the Haldex...

Often the controller fails, which prevevnt the pump from running.

All can be ops checked with VCDS

My S3 has 86,000 miles. UM tuned. Zero problems with the Haldex.

I diy my Haldex oil every 40k and inspect the pump screen.

I changed both my DSG oil and Haldex(clean screen and filter) at 20K miles. I did that because the car is 4 years old and figured fresh fluids were due.

Same with mine. I only have 23K miles on my 15' but no issues or upcoming issues.

I just took my S3 into my local dealership yesterday since my back up camera wasn't working when I bought it last month (2015 CPO - 75K KM).

I had a lengthy chat with the Audi Sport Tech/Advisor about the car since I had alot of questions. He did some digging and looked into the Haldex service, which wasn't done at the other dealership where I bought it from. This upset me. It should've been done last yea, so I'm hoping that the local dealership's warranty will cover it. If not, the other dealership will be getting a phone call from me.

I took my 2016 in for its 35k service and the rear diff service was not completed. After a brief chat with the service advisor and the tech who performed the work on my car (and pulling the 2016 maintenance schedule) they agreed to complete the service - 1qt drain and refill. They told me pulling the pump/cleaning the screen was not covered under warranty, but since I “noted” a slipping clutch on my service request AoA had all the documentation they needed to cover the pulling and cleaning of the pump.

In short, if the advisors give you grief show them the latest revision of the 2016 maintenance schedule (9/7/17), and tell them on spirited drives the clutch will slip.

One would think an "Audi Service Advisor" was fully versed in Audi Maint Schedules...or at least could read...

Unfortunately, the maintenance schedule readily available on the audiusa website isn’t the latest revision and doesn’t include the S3 needing the BW rear clutch
