    DSG long-term reliability?

    Folks,

I'm a B8 A4 owner who's been lusting after a comparable S4 for a while. I can't afford new, so mid- to high-mileage used is what I'm looking at. My first choice is a manual transmission, but it seems like the majority are DSG so I'm wondering how good an option those are.

I know how they drive is kind of a matter of opinion, but what I don't know is how reliable they are long-term. If you have one that has high mileage can you vote and/or comment about your experience?

    Thanks!
Be alert! America needs more lerts.

Stick to B8.5's if you are going with DSG. The B8 DSG box seems to have the majority of the issues.

I'm just about to hit 100k on mine, zero issues.

2011, bolt on mods, generally drive it like I stole it. --> 137K miles, starting to get some "is that normal" thoughts... but nothing has failed, and no codes.

Also do my service premature. I'm contemplating replacing my Mechatronics board in anticipation of it failing.... but have no valid reason to replace it.

2010 with 93k miles. All recommended services done at time specified.

DSG malfunction message appeared with no noticeable impact to the way the DSG operated.

Repair kit did not fix the issue so required a new mechatronic unit. Waiting on it right now to install.

I'm looking around right now for options to put a larger trans cooler to see if that might help with longevity. I'm disappointed but can live with the cost.

100k miles. DSG can be a bit jerky here and there but no errors and as long as Im patient when I start from stops it rarely happens. I had it serviced at 85k and at first no change..maybe even worse.. but after maybe 1000 miles it was better than ever and has been since. Ill likely have it serviced again around 115k.

I've been waiting for the right 2013+ to come up for sale near me. I will be going DSG but I already know dsg service will be the first thing I do. What maint intervals does audi flush the dsg and swap filters? I heard 35k mile recommended maint they do, any after that?

You can download maintenance interval document. Do a search for (insert your year)audi maintenance intervals and youll find it.

For my 2013 it's first time at 35K and every 40K after that.

You are correct. I did what Rob suggested and shows 35k/75k/115k for dsg/stronic

    103k miles.

    2010

Have dumped more money than Ive ever wanted into the DSG. Stay the fuck away. 2012+ seem to have less issues.
