    2018 S6 production numbers

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just bought a new 2018 S6 that should arrive next week from California. Anyone know 2018 S6 production numbers by color for the USA? Tried searching online and could only find A6/S6 numbers. Been reading the C7 forums for months trying to learn about the car. I am sure I will have plenty of questions. Coming from a 2015 B8.5 S4 that I am still trying to sell if anyone wants a nice CPO S4.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Thanks! Had been looking at CPO S6s until I heard about huge deals being done on the last new 2018s. Then watched as new inventory kept dropping until there were only 3 left in the nation. With only one left having all the options I wanted started negotiating with them a couple weeks ago. Got the car cheaper than a CPO car and even below trade in value. Wanted to get my S4 sold first but this was just too good of a deal to pass up. Now just waiting for the car to get to Florida from California. Looking forward to driving a V8 again!

Thanks and congrats as well! I assume you are very happy that you have made the switch.
Car is a 2018 Tornado Gray with black interior with the following options
    S Sport Package
    Driver Assistance package
    black optic package
    Carbon atlas inlays
For me those were the only 4 packages that I wanted and I would have taken a couple different colors. My S4 is Monsoon so did not want anything that was too close to that.

Did you get the production numbers from the Audi Customer experience thread? I was looking at that thread and on pg 30 #1172 there is a difference in Total numbers and for Mythos Blk. Hmmmmmmmmm

"Great to hear from you on your S6! I am showing that there 1,325 4.0T quattro S tronic S6 sedans produced for the 2018 model year. 337 were produced with Mythos Black Metallic, and 233/337 came with the Mythos Black Metallic/Black (IM) interior. Let me know if I can help out with anything else!"

Man, that's not very many at all. Wonder if they can bust it down even further with options (i.e. B&O, Night Vision, Prestige...etc). It took me a while to find one with B&O and don't think there are that many with that option. Thanks for the info!

No idea, maybe they were still building them when he quoted for you since it is 104 less than he told me this am. All I know is I can't wait for the car to show up.

Congrats with the car, you will love it. Post #1172 was dated 4/23/19 way past 2018 production. Production numbers are not important to me, more like guesstimates.

I am quite happy with the upgrade/switch from the S4. I appreciate having some extra room as the S4 was a bit tight on interior space (I have a child still in a car seat). I also appreciate the superior interior of the S6 vs. the S4. The 4.0L twin turbo (which I have a piggyback tuner installed) is amazing in it's power delivery and you cant beat the sound. The S4 was definitely more tossable/tighter handling and I miss my B&O sound system as my S6 has the Bose. I had an additional sub/amp in the S4 which I moved into the S6....... it sounds good but it's a far cry from how the S4 sounded. I'm also getting about 4mpg less with the S6. I really could care less about fuel economy, it's not what I even look at when buying cars but I thought I should mention it. My S6 and Yukon Denali get about the same MPG's and both need premium fuel....... I think on the highway the S6 would be a little better than the Yukon. It's sad that my Z06 (if driven judiciously) gets the best fuel mileage of any of my vehicles.....LOL!!!! I have zero regrets about my purchase and I absolutely love the S6 which I'm sure you will too!!!

Thanks for confirming that I made the right choice! I have not heard the Bose in the S6 but I was thinking it would not sound as good as the B&O in the S4 and sounds like that will be the case.
Car has been loaded onto a carrier to take it to truck for the long haul. Going to be a long week waiting.

Just got my general numbers back for a 2018 Glacier White S6. I am one of 130......not to shabby.

Can anybody comment a bit more on the switch to an S6 from S4? I have 2015 S4 prestige/APR stage 2 ECU & TCU and a few other mods. If I keep a 2017/18 S6 stock will it feel slower and less fun to drive? I love everything about my S4 except I just need more backspace due to 2nd kid arriving. I don't want to have any regrets (aside from losing my B&O). Also assuming I'll lose the DSG fart, but gain a slight V8 rumble w sport package?

There are no upshift farts, but you do get downshift crackles and pops with the sport exhaust (they are very muted with the stock exhaust).

I still get the upshift/dsg fart with my 2018 S6, not quite as pronounced as my S4 was but it's definitely there. I'm really pleased with the sport exhaust as it offers a nice balance/refined sound. Order a JB4 tuner for your S6 and it will totally transform the car with a very noticeable gain.

That's interesting about the upshift farts. The ROW firmware must be different to the US firmware. The shifts in mine were so fast in sports mode and manual mode, that there was no time to do the fart.

Decided to jump in here....wish mine was a 2018 but I wasn't ready yet when Audi was cutting those deals late 2018 into this year. I did just get a sweet deal on this 2016 with B&O and unlimited mileage warranty for the next 2 years - have a lot of driving to do so when the two years is up, I'll start modifying with APR etc.

I had a 2014 S4 that I didn't modify as it was a lease. The B&O comparison is interesting as it was an $850 option for the S4 and a $4900 option for the S6 and I'd say that while I am glad I have it, I do not hear $4900 of value but I would have gotten it regardless... I pulled the rear door panel to see about making room for the Audi Rings Puddle lights and noticed that the tweeter in the door did not say B&O it said Audi unlike the other speakers so I do not know what to make of that.

The Bose system can be helped big time by swapping out the lame small magnet subwoofer, modifying the box with a heat gun, adding a high quality sub and 150-200 watt amp totaling $300.

I was quite disappointed with the "Sport Exhaust".... the S4 sounded sweet like you guys are saying so within a week I had the resonators deleted and put in an X-pipe. Best $400 I've spent so far, last thing to do beyond the grill is JB4 and I saw this on 4Chio's list. Is JB4 worth the money? 50-60hp and 60ish tq?

If my signature is correct now, I blacked out the rings/badges, wheels, and it looks awesome. Tornado Gray is such a great color, my S4 was Monsoon and I liked that too, but this with black is just so sweet.

I actually have a loaner right now due to bad O2 sensor and that weird vibration in the HUD that is thankfully a known issue. The loaner is a 2019 A6 S-Line with 21s, fully loaded. The new dash is outstanding....
2016 S6 Tornado Gray, B&O, Black Optic, Black Badges, Black Powder Coated 20" 5 double-spoke OEM Wheels.. Spacers, JB4 Tune and possibly Tune Pedal coming.

Funny that you went from Monsoon S4 to Tornado S6 just like I did. Now that the car is clean from the road trip I am loving the Tornado. I had never seen the color in person and bought the car sight unseen. I do miss the the B&O from the S4 compared to the Bose in the S6 but for me I don't care how good the B&O must sound in the S6 it would not be worth the $4,900. I am going to look into do some kind of modification to the sub like you mentioned. Just got the car yesterday and have not driven it enough yet to decide on the exhaust but will probably do what you did. I had done the exact same mods to the S4.

You got any pictures of the black badges on the Tornado? Which badges did you go with?

Getting the windows tinted this morning and the spacers I ordered will be here tomorrow.

That is pretty funny and coincidental! I should’ve taken photos of it before and after but I never did, not sure why.....I received 17.5 mm spacers from ECS yesterday and was hoping to get the car back at the end of the day but didn’t so as soon as I do get it back I’ll take a couple of photos and share. For the VBT and rear S6 badge I used us85_direct, below are are the links.

For the front and rear rings I purchased from Audi direst iI found a dealership that had the package on sale for $135 from $200. I believe it was Audi of New Orleans. Don’t waste your time with the rings on eBay unless you want smaller ones for the trunk, the grill won’t fit, at least the ones I purchased didn’t.

The front badge I did myself, it was a PIA but I could not get myself to pay tag motors $125 but it might be worth it at some point.

I like the black so much I may have the mirrors painted a flat black to match the bottom - I bought some vinyl to fix the holes created from the license plate frame so I’m doing my first wrap -with side lane assist I don’t know if I can do the mirrors, but I might give it a shot. It could be a lot of time and effort that one rock could easily mess up....

Look forward to pictures when you get it back. Also want to see what you deal with the front plate mount. I am in Florida and don’t need the plate mount that came on the car.

I guess worth is subjective when it comes to the Bang & Olufsen system in the S6/7/8. I had B&O in my S5 and it was exponentially cheaper at $850, but it was not the same thing. Would I have paid $4900 to have it in my S6?....yes, as it was one of the options I really wanted, but with the deals for a new S6, it came out to be much cheaper on average. Do I wish it was cheaper? Of course, but boy does it sound phenomenal to me. The hard part was finding one with it in the first place. Ironically, Audi is taken after the Latin word for "Hear". There is a difference between the Premium and Advanced systems. Here's some more info.
