    RS5 Coupe vs Sportback

I am looking at replacing my C63 with either a C63S Coupe or an RS5. I was not a fan of the Sportback until I saw one in Nogaro at the dealership, but I am having a hard time finding the differences between the Coupe and Sportback specifically. Honestly, I do not need the 4 doors, as I have other cars for second-row comfort.

I know that the Sportback ois 89lbs heavier, possibly 0.1 sec slower to 60, and a tad longer, and a few thousand dollars more expensive, but are there any other differences, such as hardware or what is included in the RS5?

    Thanks in advance.

Price wise, the RS5 Coupe and Sportback cost the same. They even have the same set of options which also cost the same. Wheel styles are slightly different between to the two though. Pretty much everything is the same except for the slight changes in 0-60 times, weight and length as noted. It really comes down to do you want 2 doors or a 4 door + hatchback.

The sport back has a better suspension than the coupe to handle the extra load of the sport back weight and two more adults and hatch cargo.

^ A suspension can only optimized for a particular load. So the larger range of load the suspension must cope with, the less optimized the suspension is. Thus, in this regard, the coupe has a better suspension.

Often there is a variation in suspension, exhaust, or other options between a sedan and coupe of the same model, but it sounds like the Sportback is really treated like a coupe in regards to the hardware (suspension variation for weight exception). Just wanted to make sure before I go down the route of one vs either.

I was also torn between a C63S coupe or an RS5. I ultimately chose the RS5 over the Mercedes - and for me I chose the sportback based on looks over the RS5 coupe. To me the proportions on the SB are better than the coupe and the profile of the car looks better to me. So I went with the SB and I'm very happy with it - and the extra functionality of the back doors and hatch are icing on top.

I've read that the B&O sound system is a little better in the coupe due to it having a 10" subwoofer vs the tiny 6.5" sub in the sportback.

Because you have the S5 you might want to go test drive an RS5 coupe/Sportback, and you will notice the difference especially over the S5. The best suspensions are dynamic and able to change at different loads. The worst suspensions are fixed and fragile.

Then, why they didn't put the Sportback suspension on the coupe?
