So I'm looking at getting a 2011+ b8(8.5) s4 and was curious where the best place to get a solid PPI done. Being that I live in Alaska and will need to have the car shipped I wanna avoid as many issues as possible. I was thinking about local audi dealer but figured I'd ask if theres any specific euro shops that would be good to really look over a few s4's and know what to look for. All of the s4's im looking at are 1 owner with maint records showing 5-55k+ mile maint thru the dealerships and around 80k miles or less but they also are all DSG so I'd like a shop who knows what to look for in those with possible failures and any other common issues on these 3.0t's

    Thanks!

Where are you buying the car? That's going to depend on where you want to take it.

If it's an audi dealer then that's pretty easy, it's done most of the time already.

I know of a few independent shops on the east side, redmond and Woodinville or another down by the airport in Tukwila

Autobahn Autowerkz is a great shop. Otherwise university Audi if you want a dealership.

You could also look at Fine Tuning in Seattle. They are thorough in their inspections of cars and I know they do PPIs.

    Pre-Purchase Inspections

I’ve had my cars serviced at Audi Seattle a few times. They’re really good and will likely do a thorough job assuming you can book time for a PPI )m(they’re always very busy) and they actually perform them for cars they don’t sell. Gonna be more expensive than an indie shop though.

Fine Tuning is about 10 minutes north of Audi Seattle, why not give them a shout?

So I contacted all the local dealerships, audi seattle wanted almost 400 + tax for an inspection, bellvue stated they only do "safety inspections" and was unable to tell me what was included in that. I ended up speaking with Steve at Autobahn, had a good conversation regarding the prepurchase inspection and what I should look out for. Def where I would like to take any audi to have it worked on or looked at as Steve was very knowledgeable

$400 for an inspection?! Yeesh. That must be the “it’s not really worth our time so here is an absurd quote, just in case you’re a moron and want to pay it” quote...

Lynnwood gave a good description and quoted me like 160 + taxes for it, however after googling the location of the dealer and where the car is the place that has the car did not want to drive 40+mins to drop the car off and pick it up. This car is actually only about 7miles from autobahn but I'm debating if I want to pull the trigger as the talk steve and I had both acknowledged some of the main issues with the b8 (2010-12) s4's. So I'm just debating weather or not I should wait. I'd like to get a car before winter starts so we shall see...
